As a Make-A-Wish volunteer, Drury University student Allison Skidmore wanted to do something special for children in Southwest Missouri who are waiting for their wishes to come true. 💙
After earning a $1,000 community impact grant from Drury, Allison used the funding to purchase supplies and created 10 Boost Boxes for local wish kids who are waiting for their wishes to go to Hawaii.
So, what is a Boost Box? It’s a special package filled with thoughtful gifts, activities and encouraging messages designed to bring a little extra joy to a wish kid while they wait for their wish to come true. For children who may be waiting months for their wish, these small moments of encouragement can make a meaningful difference.
Allison then brought fellow Drury students together to help assemble the boxes and write personal notes of encouragement for each child.
These thoughtful gifts are a reminder that while a wish may take time, hope is something we can give today.
We are incredibly grateful to Allison for turning her passion for giving back into action and to the Drury University community for helping bring this idea to life. Together, they are bringing hope, strength and joy to children and families throughout Southwest Missouri.
