Rescued Animals, Rescuing Youth! In 2008 Erin Maxwell, an 11 year old girl, was found to be neglected by her father and stepmother. In Aug. By the end of Aug.

She was also abused and then strangled to death by her adult stepbrother. It was then that I knew that I could no longer sit around and keep hearing the end result of abused and neglected children, but that I had to do something to try to help and save these children. I cried out loud to God to tell me what to do and he answered. Our family had went on a missions trip to Romania in March of 2008.

We would always pass by a horse farm on the way to the orphanages. I thought that would be great if they could hook the horse farm up with the children in the orphanages to give them a sense of a purpose, a hope and show them that there is a different way of life and people that love them. Well God said, "Why can't you do your horse farm idea here in the US?" So I shared my idea with my husband and our children. of 2009 we found the perfect property . we had obtained the property and started renovating it. By July 2010 it was renovated enough for us to move in. There is still a lot of renovating to be done, but that will come with time. We pair youth ages 6-18 who have emotional trauma from neglect, abuse, and or being bullied and youth who have trouble adapting socially, with animals that have been rescued from similar circumstances. Through contact of our animal mentors & human mentors we want to give the children hope, love, joy, confidence and show them that they were made on purpose for a purpose! We are primarily a horse farm with other animals such as alpacas, goats, a variety of birds, pigs, a donkey and more! We currently care for 39 rescued farm and exotic animals. 🌞🐴 It has been a HOT summer, and the flies are really in full gear now! 🪰

We’ve gone through our supply of fly spray in just one week, as our animals need to be sprayed several times a day for much-needed relief. Fly spray has now become a high-priority need on our Wishlist!

Donating fly spray will help provide relief for our horses, donkeys, alpacas, pigs, and camel as they battle these pesky insects every day. It also helps keep them more comfortable and can help reduce issues like irritated eyes and eye infections.

💙 ZEB UPDATE! 💙🐾
Zeb’s surgery was a success! 🎉

Thanks to all of the incredible people who donated, shared his story, prayed for him, and cheered him on, Zeb got the care he desperately needed. We are beyond grateful for every single person who helped make this possible. ❤️

And the best part? Zeb is BACK! 🥰 He is once again doing what he loves most, being the farm’s official greeter, welcoming visitors, soaking up attention, and loving life!

Zeb's life-threatening urinary blockage has been successfully cleared, and he is doing very well.
Zeb is so much more than just a farm cat.
He is one of the first faces that greets our volunteers each day. He patiently waits for pets, and never misses the chance to curl up beside someone who needs a little extra love. Visitors and youth in our mentoring program quickly fall in love with his gentle personality. Whether he's welcoming new faces, comforting someone having a difficult day, or simply making everyone smile with his affectionate nature, Zeb has a way of making everyone feel special.

He has become a beloved member of the Purpose Farm family, and the thought of losing him was absolutely heartbreaking.
When this emergency happened, there wasn't a decision to make. Without immediate treatment, Zeb would not have survived.

As a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, we said YES to saving his life because that's what family does. We trusted that somehow, our incredible community would help us find a way to cover the cost afterward.

Now we need your help.
We have not received the final bill yet, but we know Zeb's emergency surgery, hospitalization, and care are expected to total between $2,500 and $3,000. That is an enormous expense for a nonprofit that relies entirely on donations to care for the animals who give so much back to our community.

🚨 EMERGENCY UPDATE FOR ZEB 🚨
We are currently at Cornell with Zeb after he developed a life-threatening urinary blockage. This is a true emergency that cannot wait.
The good news is that once the blockage is successfully cleared, Zeb is expected to recover well. Right now, our focus is getting him the emergency care he needs.
We don't know the final cost yet, but the initial estimate is already $900, and we know the total will likely be higher.
As many of you know, Purpose Farm is 100% volunteer-run, and unexpected emergencies like this are incredibly difficult for us financially.
