Annal's Angels

Annal's Angels will create and enhance opportunities to improve literacy and foster the love of reading in children. They both loved our family dog Bogey.

On September 3, 2020 our family was taking a day trip to Letchworth State Park. While on the New York State Thruway, traffic stopped due to construction on the road and our minivan was rear ended by a truck. Our daughters, Maryella age 11, and Elizabeth age 9, did not survive the accident. Tom suffered a traumatic brain injury, which has fortunately healed. Maureen suffered a spinal cord injury, a

nd is still working hard at recovery. Since the accident, Tom and Maureen have been living by the motto to do “the next right thing” From this has come the creation of Annal’s Angels Inc. to Honor their daughters, and to make sure that they are never forgotten. They were sweet girls who enjoyed helping others, and were loved by all who knew them. Maryella loved reading, and Elizabeth loved all things computers. In addition to creating scholarships in memory of the girls, Annal’s Angels well create and enhance opportunities to improve literacy and foster the love of reading in children. If Maryella were here today, she would be celebrating turning 17 — she would have just gone to her junior prom.

Annal’s Angels exists to honor both Maryella and Elizabeth. We don’t often talk about the heartache that never really leaves us; some days are harder than others, and birthdays especially have a way of marking time.
It means the world to us that so many people continue to remember them and show up for the work we do in their honor.

Thank you to everyone who supported the 5th Annal’s Angels Memorial 5K Run/Walk back on August 31st.
Because of you, we were able to donate the funds raised to 3 local charities this morning, carrying the memory of Elizabeth and Maryella forward in a meaningful way.

We are so proud to donate $3,500 to the Baldwinsville Christmas Bureau, $1,000 to the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center, Inc. for the Food Pantry, and $500 to the Baldwinsville Rotary for the Backpack Program. This is in addition to the $4,000 donated to Friends Forever Animal Rescue earlier this fall.

Pictured are some of Elizabeth and Maryella’s friends who volunteered their time before and during the event to make it a success.

After presenting the donations, everyone stayed to help out the Baldwinsville Christmas Bureau organizing some of the donations.
