Through our capital campaign, we're working to expand the Mary Lee Maier Community Pantry to better serve the growing number of families facing food insecurity in our community.

We're looking for local businesses, organizations and community partners who want to be part of making this next chapter possible.

With several giving levels available, there are opportunities to support the campaign in a way that is meaningful to your business or organization.

Are you a local business owner, or do you know someone who might be interested in getting involved? We'd love to connect!

In 2018, the Mary Lee Maier Community Pantry served an average of 37 families each week. Today, that number has grown to 108.

As the need for food assistance continues to grow in our community, so does the importance of having the space and resources to serve our neighbors.

As pantry president Mary Burkhart reminds us, caring for our neighbors is at the heart of what we do. Through our capital campaign, we're working to expand our space so we can continue meeting the growing needs of the families we serve.
Help us make room for more food and more hope by supporting our capital campaign – More Room. More Food. More Hope.

Today is World Food Day! 🌎💚

At the Mary Lee Maier Community Pantry, our mission is to ensure that hunger is not a barrier to learning in our community. For the families we serve, having a reliable source of food can make a meaningful difference in their everyday lives.

This World Food Day, we're excited to share that the Town of Avon will be hosting another food drive benefiting the pantry on November 17!

As construction gets underway to double our space, we're looking ahead to filling our shelves and continuing to provide more food and more hope to families in our community.

Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details on how you can participate! In the meantime, visit avonindiana.gov/givingback to learn more about the upcoming food drive.

What started as a routine trip to the dentist opened a door Janet Conley never expected.

Janet had recently moved to Indiana and was still finding her place in the Avon community when she noticed that her new dentist, Sonshine Family Dental, was collecting food for the Mary Lee Maier Community Pantry.

When she got home, she looked up the pantry and decided it might be somewhere she could get involved. She volunteered at a Thursday evening distribution and soon found herself returning week after week.

A few years later, Thursdays at the pantry have become an important part of her week. She recently joined the board of directors for the pantry as well.

“My week would not be complete if I didn’t spend Thursday from 5–6 p.m. giving out food,” Janet shared. “Over the last few years, I have seen an organization that truly cares about the people who come to the pantry.”

Stories like Janet’s are part of what makes the pantry so special. It’s a place where neighbors come together to serve neighbors, and where a simple decision to help can turn into years of connection and service.

There are many ways to be part of the pantry’s work. Whether you give your time as a volunteer, donate food or support our capital campaign, you’re helping us continue serving families throughout the Avon community. More Room. More Food. More Hope.
