Glenn has been a valued part of the Mary Lee Foundation family for 15 years, and in that time, he’s become known for his quiet nature, strong work ethic, and ability to learn quickly. While he may be soft-spoken, Glenn’s presence speaks volumes through his dedication and kindness.

When asked what he enjoys most at the Mary Lee Foundation, Glenn shared that he loves spending time with his friends because “we always have fun together.” Those friendships are a big part of what makes his experience so meaningful.

One staff member who has made a meaningful impact on Glenn is Tameka Stidom, who leads the Day Break program. Glenn shares that she is “really nice and listens to us” and always brings “good vibes.” Supportive staff like Tameka help create an environment where clients feel truly heard and valued.

Glenn loves it when our community puts on the Fall Festival each year. He feels it’s a time filled with friends, family, and joyful moments shared together. Experiences like these highlight the strong sense of community at Mary Lee.

Glenn is currently working on building his coping skills and continues to grow in meaningful ways. Looking ahead, one of his goals is to work more with Billo’s Dog Treats, a hands-on program where clients help create all-natural dog treats while gaining job skills, building confidence, and contributing to the community. It’s something he’s truly motivated and excited to pursue.

He also hopes people understand that individuals with disabilities have so much to offer, sharing, “They can learn about us if they really want to know more.” It’s a simple but powerful reminder of the importance of connection and understanding.

Outside of the Mary Lee Foundation, Glenn expresses his creativity as an artist. He loves to paint, watch movies, and spend time at church, activities that reflect his thoughtful and creative spirit. We’re grateful for Glenn and the steady, positive energy he brings to our community each day!

Every day, our clients inspire us with their strength, kindness, humor, and joy. Whether it’s through a conversation, a dance move, a helping hand, or simply a smile, they make our campus brighter in the best ways.

We are so grateful for the staff, families, volunteers, and supporters who help create a place where adults with diverse needs can thrive, feel valued, and truly belong.

👏Help us congratulate April on being our Employee of the Month!
On regular work days (if anything around here can truly be called regular), April Benton is informative, inquisitive, and an exceptional communicator. Whether addressing an issue, giving updates about time away, or explaining why a signature is needed, communication is always clear and thoughtful.

April is incredibly knowledgeable about the role and its requirements, but never hesitates to ask questions, seek clarification, or confirm details when needed. The work product is always clear, concise, and accurate — making life much easier for everyone on the team.

During a recent team member’s absence, April stepped up in a huge way by taking on the majority of the additional workload while still managing regular assignments. Everything was completed on time, accurately, and without much overtime. That kind of dedication does not go unnoticed.

We are truly grateful for everything April does. Honestly, last month could have easily been renamed “The Month of April” because the impact made throughout the organization was impossible to miss. Congratulations, April! 🎉

Happy Mother’s Day to the incredible women who nurture, support, and love so selflessly. 💐

Today, we celebrate not only the mothers in our community, but also the caregivers, staff, and role models at the Mary Lee Foundation who show what it means to care deeply for others every single day.

In so many ways, the compassion we see here reflects a mother’s love—patient, strong, and unwavering. Whether it’s through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply being present, that love makes a lasting difference in the lives of our clients.

To all the mothers and mother figures, thank you for the heart you bring into this world. You are truly appreciated today and every day. 💛

Today kicks off National Nurses Week, and we couldn’t let it begin without recognizing the incredible nurses who are the heart of Mary Lee Foundation. Every day, our nurses go beyond care. They bring compassion, patience, and dignity to each person they serve. They show kindness in every interaction and make a lasting difference in the lives of our clients.

Today, we’re especially proud to spotlight Melissa Alvarez, whose dedication and genuine love for those she serves truly embody what it means to be a nurse. Since first joining the Mary Lee Foundation team in March 2022, Melissa has made a meaningful impact as one of our dedicated Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) nurses. In her role, she helps manage the care and safety of our clients, always leading with compassion and attentiveness.

What Melissa loves most about her work is simple but powerful: the clients. She shares, “They are like my babies,” a reflection of the deep care and connection she brings to her role each day.

Her journey to the Mary Lee Foundation started unexpectedly with a late-night text asking if she could pick up a shift from an agency she was working for and that moment turned into a calling. Melissa believes what makes the Mary Lee Foundation truly special are “the clients and caring staff,” a sentiment that shines through in everything she does.

One of her favorite memories is what she calls a “graduation”, when a client transitioned from the Intermediate Care Facility into his own apartment at Charles Place Apartments in 2024, a low-income housing complex on the Square here at Mary Lee. He still returns to ICF with Christmas cards and updates for the staff, and Melissa beams with pride at how well he’s doing. Moments like these are a testament to the life-changing work happening here every day.

When Melissa thinks of the Mary Lee Foundation, one word comes to mind: “Support.” She hopes others recognize that the people we serve are not only capable of achieving great things but are also incredibly kind and compassionate individuals. Outside of work, Melissa has been a nurse for about eight years and is currently learning how to sew. She is a proud mom of three children and has a lively household that includes seven cats and a dog.

We’re grateful for Melissa’s heart, dedication, and the support she brings to our community each day!
