SUPPORT! MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD FOR S.B. 2037 THIS COMING TUESDAY MAY 16!
Senate Bill 2037 prohibits cities in the ETJ from regulating, directly or indirectly: (1) minimum lot sizes; (2) lot dimensions; (3) minimum width of lot frontages; (4) lot setbacks; and (5) any other components of lot density.

There are two ways to make your voice heard on this bill:
Written: register your name and position of SUPPORT on the bill simply to be put on file (“drop a card”)
Oral: register to get in front of the committee and TESTIFY orally
Both of these options require you to go to the Capitol and register at a kiosk found inside the Capitol or via your electronic device connected to the Capitol wi-fi.

A Win for Texas Property Owners: S.B. 2038 Is Heading to Governor’s Desk!
Relief is on its way for property owners regulated without representation. The Texas Legislature today passed Senate Bill (SB) 2038 and sent it to the Governor for approval. ETJ residents are today regulated by cities but cannot vote in city elections. SB 2038 allows residents and property owners in a city’s ETJ to finally be removed from the city’s regulation via petition or election. This is a huge win in the longstanding fight to restore property and voting rights for owners of property outside of the city limits. Thank you to the bill’s authors, Senator Paul Bettencourt and Rep. Cecil Bell Jr.

In this ETJ Zone Regulatory Overreach map, it shows that almost 40,000 ETJ Zone landowners in Austin CANNOT vote for their city leaders. Landowners should not be controlled by laws they can’t vote on. Support our mission to advocate for policy change and sign our petition!
