📣 ME-RAP is hiring a Center Organizer!

We’re looking for a compassionate, dependable person to join the team at the Access Center in Augusta and help us build a welcoming community rooted in recovery, harm reduction, dignity, and support without judgment.

The Center Organizer will: Support daily programs, meetings, and recovery services, provide one-on-one recovery coaching, help with community events and cleanups, work alongside our canvassing team on Project Doorstep, and help keep the Access Center safe, accessible, and welcoming.

💵 $20 per hour, up to 40 hours per week
📍 In person at the Access Center in Augusta
🌙 Evening and weekend availability required
❤️ $358 monthly wellness stipend, or $535 for employees with dependent children
🏖️ 10 paid holidays, two weeks of paid time off, flexible scheduling, and professional development opportunities

We’re looking for someone committed to both harm reduction and recovery who can connect with people across many different experiences and stages of life. Lived experience with recovery or harm reduction is strongly encouraged and deeply valued.

There’s a lot happening at the Access Center this week, with plenty of ways to learn, connect, and take action. 💛

On Monday, we’re hosting an HIV/HCV Train the Trainer from 9 AM–4 PM. The training covers how to provide HIV and hepatitis C testing and can help organizations become eligible to receive free rapid test kits through Maine CDC. Sign up here: tinyurl.com/MERAPTESTING

Maine Family Planning’s Health on Wheels will also be at the Access Center on Thursday from 12–4 PM, offering a range of free, confidential health services right on site.

Friday night, come hang out with us for Movie Night from 5–7 PM. We’ll have a movie, snacks, and a welcoming space to relax and spend some time together.

Then on Saturday, we’re taking Overdose Action Month into the community with an Overdose Action Canvass from 1–5 PM. Join us as we bring free naloxone, overdose prevention information, and resources directly into the community.

Saturday night, we’re ending the week with Recovery Night Social from 7–9 PM—a chance to connect, unwind, enjoy some light refreshments and activities, and spend time with others in a welcoming, substance-free space.

Recovery meetings and daily community clean-ups are happening throughout the week too.

🗳️ VOTE RECOVERY IS IN ACTION! 🗳️

Our brand-new Vote Recovery voter registration and voting rights boards arrived at the ME-RAP Access Center today, and within MINUTES, four participants registered to vote! 🎉

That is what Vote Recovery is all about: making sure people impacted by substance use, recovery, homelessness, and the criminal legal system know that their voices matter, their experiences matter, and their votes matter.

These boards make it easy to learn your voting rights and register to vote right from the Access Center. Just scan the QR code and get started!

And we’re not stopping at the Center. We’re ordering another round so our organizers can take voter registration and voting rights information out into the community.

This election season, we’re organizing. We’re registering voters. We’re making sure our communities know their rights. And we’re getting out the vote.

Because WE RECOVER AND WE VOTE. ❤️🗳️

At ME-RAP, we believe that investing in our people is an investment in our community. Strong programs require strong teams, and strong teams need opportunities to learn, grow, reflect, and sharpen their practice together.

A huge thank you to Paul Harkin for spending the whole day with us on Monday, sharing decades of experience, and helping us continue to grow. Paul brings nearly three decades of frontline public health and program leadership experience to his work, with a focus on something that deeply resonates with us at ME-RAP: serving people. 💛
