Not all heroes wear capes, some of them volunteer at your local polls! 🦸⭐🦸‍♀️🗳🦸‍♂️

On Election Hero Day, amidst the chaos of midterm elections, we are grateful for the folks in our community who work to make sure each one of our voices is heard.

If you want to thank your local election heroes, you can thank them during Early Voting until October 29th, or you can wait to tell them how much their work means to you on Election Day, November 3!

Do you want to be part of community- and policy-based solutions to substance use in Maine? Interested in learning how you can get involved in advocacy and grassroots community organizing, and help others get involved too?

Join us for an upcoming virtual onboarding session with the Maine Recovery Action Project (ME-RAP) Statewide Organizing Team! 💛

We'll talk about the work we're doing across Maine, what it means to be a volunteer organizer, and how you can get involved. Whether you're a seasoned community organizer or brand new to advocacy, all of our voices are needed to build the Maine we need and want!

We're offering two virtual onboarding sessions: Thursday, November 5, from 5-6:30 PM, and Friday, November 6, from 12-1:30 PM.

Attendance at one onboarding session is required to join the team.

This page is a space for supporting recovery, not perpetuating stigma.

Stigma remains one of the biggest barriers preventing people from seeking help for substance use disorder. The words we use and the way we treat one another matter.

At ME-RAP, we believe in having open, honest conversations about the complex issues surrounding substance use, addiction, recovery, and harm reduction. We welcome different perspectives, thoughtful questions, and respectful disagreement.

What we will not welcome is language that stigmatizes, dehumanizes, or attacks people who are struggling with substance use disorder. These are our friends, families, neighbors, and community members, and they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

We also have a responsibility to ensure that the information shared on this page is accurate. Comments that spread misinformation, promote stigma, or personally attack others will be removed. Individuals who repeatedly violate these expectations will be blocked.

You do not have to agree with us to participate in this conversation. But you do have to treat people with dignity.

Recovery is possible. Everyone deserves access to help. And no one should be made to feel ashamed for needing it.

Thank you for helping us build a community that reflects those values.

Today is the final day to register to vote online in Maine for the November 3rd election. Online registration closes at 5 PM!

It only takes a few minutes, and if you need a hand, stop by the ME-RAP Access Center today. We're here to help! 💛

Get ready, Augusta! ME-RAP Youth are bringing the Harvest & Hay Fall Festival to Mill Park, and they've been hard at work planning an afternoon packed with family fun, games, food, and all things fall!

Join us on Saturday, October 17th from 12-4 PM at Mill Park in Augusta!

This youth-led event is made possible with support from Zysk Recovery Partners and HFGC Recovery Network.

Our youth have some BIG plans, and you won't want to miss the fun! Bring the whole family, spread the word, and come make some fall memories with us! 💛
