Our Longest-Term Resident Kitties

Some kitties have been waiting a little longer than we’d like to find their forever homes. Samantha, Beta, and Marmalade - three wonderful girls who are ready for their next chapter!

🐱 Marmalade – 2 years old
Marmalade came to us in March and is an affectionate, playful girl who loves people of all ages—especially children! 💕 She loves her toys and will happily greet you to show you just how much she loves you. Marmalade is on a prescription c/d diet to maintain her urinary health, which she will need to continue for life.

🐱 Samantha – 3 years old
Samantha came to us in early April and is a curious, affectionate girl with an independent side. She knows what she wants (and what she doesn’t! 😉). She is looking for a home with no other animals and children 14+. Samantha takes anxiety medication, which she will likely need for the rest of her life.

🐱 Beta – 7 years old
Beta came to us in early April and is a calm, independent girl who enjoys doing her own thing. She likes attention on her terms and would love a quiet, sunny place to spend her days. ☀️ She is looking for a home with no other animals or children.

These girls are all so deserving of a loving forever home, and we would LOVE to see them finally get their chance. ❤️

Meet Our Newly Available Parakeets! 💚💛💙

We have 9 sweet parakeets who are ready to find their forever homes!

These little songbirds love to sing, chatter, and enjoy some free-flight time to stretch their wings and explore. 🪽✨

Three of our parakeets — Budlay, Whisper & Sunny — are a bonded trio and will need to go home together. 💕 The rest of our parakeets can go home in pairs of two or more, because these social little birds love having one of their feathered friends by their side!

Ebony is here to announce our Wish List Wednesday needs! 🐱

Ebony has checked the list twice, and our animals could use a few supplies this week! We are currently in need of:

🦜 Parakeet toys
🌾 Timothy hay
🌲 Pine shavings
🥕 Fresh fruits & veggies
🧺 Cat litter
🧼 Laundry soap
🐱 Dry cat food

If you’re able to donate, Ebony and all of her furry and feathered friends would be so grateful! Every donation helps us provide the care and comfort our animals need while they wait for their forever homes. ❤️🐾

Happy First Day of School!

The backpacks are packed, the lunches are ready, and the first day of school is finally here! 🎒✏️

We hope everyone has a wonderful first day filled with new adventures, new friends, and lots of learning! And for all the kids heading off to school today, remember… there’s probably a very excited furry friend waiting at the window for you to come home. ❤️

And Winston would like to remind everyone: the best part of the school day is coming home to your best friend! If you’re looking to add a sweet furry face to come home to, Winston would love to meet you - we think he will do well with people of all ages!

We are so grateful to the amazing group from Central Maine Power who came out to spend the day volunteering with us! Groups who choose to give their time to the animals in our care are always incredible, and this group was no exception. They truly rolled up their sleeves and got to work! 💪🐾

From building new shelves to help us stay organized, to moving hundreds of pounds of food back and forth to sort and organize it, they tackled some BIG projects for us!

They also got us completely caught up on cat carrier cleaning and kept our laundry and dishes running smoothly. 🧺🧼🐱

So much of what happens behind the scenes at the shelter is made possible by volunteers willing to jump in wherever they are needed. We are incredibly thankful for the time, energy, and hard work this group gave to our animals and our team. ❤️

Thank you, CMP, for spending the day with us and helping make such a big difference! We appreciate you more than you know!

There’s nothing we love more than seeing our animals find their way home! 🏡❤️

Over the past few weeks, so many wonderful animals have found their forever families, and we couldn’t be happier for each and every one of them! While we don’t have photos of everyone who has gone home, we absolutely love sharing the pictures we do have. 📸🥰

Congratulations to all of the families who have welcomed a new furry member into their lives! We hope your days are filled with plenty of love, cuddles, adventures, and happy memories together.

And to everyone who chose to adopt—thank you! Thank you for giving a shelter animal the second chance they deserve and for opening your hearts and homes.

It’s time for another Field Trip Feature, and this week we are showing Winston’s adventure! 🐶💙

Winston enjoyed a stroll through downtown Hallowell, taking in all the sights, sounds, and—most importantly - ALL the sniffs! 👃🐾 He was an absolute gentleman on his adventure and did a wonderful job exploring everything downtown had to offer. Winston adores meeting new people, going outside and just hanging out! We think Winston would do well in a home with children of all ages as well as cats (with a proper introduction) and other easy going dogs. He does have very sensitive skin and to manage that he is on prescription food and medication. Stop by and meet him, he would love to say hello!

We are so happy to see our dogs getting opportunities like these! Field trips give our shelter pups a chance to take a break from shelter life, experience new things, and show off their personalities outside of their kennel. We also LOVE hearing how they did on their adventures!

And once again, a huge THANK YOU to the wonderful volunteer who has continued taking our dogs on these special field trips! We appreciate you giving our pups these awesome experiences and can't wait to see who gets to go on the next adventure! 🚗

Do you have a barn, stable, warehouse, or workshop that could use a natural pest control expert? Our Barn Buddies are unsocialized cats who thrive in outdoor settings - and they’re looking for safe places to call home!

They’re spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to get to work. You provide food, shelter, and occasional vet care — they handle the mice. 🐭
