CAYSA is a youth ASA affiliated softball organization that provides an opportunity for girls from the

T-ball consists of 5 & 6 year olds; Instructional consists of 7 & 8 year olds; 10-U consists of 9 & 10 year olds; 12-U consists of 11 & 12 year olds; 14/16-U consist of 13-16 year olds.

It’s that time of year when players try out for next year’s travel teams, and it genuinely pains me when a young lady doesn’t make a team. Our program works incredibly hard to find coaches willing to sacrifice their time to give these kids an opportunity to experience belonging. Every year it gets harder to find individuals willing to step up, so I want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who is coaching this season.
To the players who didn’t make a team: please don’t give up. Understand that you are brave just for trying out, because only those willing to take a chance ever accomplish anything in life. Use the "no" you received as motivation. Work hard on your skills, build your determination, and come back even stronger next year.
Parents, please help your child understand that we all face a lot of "no's" in life. It hurts. However, what we do moving forward reflects the true strength and character of a player. I respect every single one of you who took a chance, and I truly hope to see you back on the field next year.

🥎 Mainiacs Travel Softball Tryout Reminder 🥎

Tryouts for our 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U teams begin next week! We wish the best of luck to every athlete participating and appreciate your interest in the Mainiacs program.

A few important reminders:

🥎 Pitchers & Catchers: Please plan to stay approximately 30 minutes after your tryout for additional position evaluations.

📅 Can’t attend your scheduled tryout? Please let us know as soon as possible so we can arrange an alternate evaluation.

Please come prepared with your glove, bat, helmet, cleats, water bottle, and any other equipment you’ll need. Catchers should bring their catcher’s gear if they have it.

⏰ Please arrive 15–20 minutes early to allow time for check-in and to be ready to begin on time.

🌦️ Weather updates: If weather impacts the tryout schedule, updates will be posted on the Mainiacs page.

Congratulations to both teams on an outstanding 12U Championship Game! Your hard work, determination, sportsmanship, and love for the game were on full display. Thank you to the players, coaches, families, and fans for making it a memorable championship. Our Softball family lost a close friend. Dave Kaplan was a significant part of central Maine softball for over 40 years. The impact he had with all the girls he coached was immeasurable. I believe he was too humble to know how many lives he made a difference in. I just wish I had told him the last time I saw him how important he was to me and to so many others. He had a kind spirit and I was proud to call him my friend. We will miss you, Kappy!

📣 High School Summer League Update

To our players, families, and supporters,

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s High School Summer Softball League.

Unfortunately, we did not receive enough player registrations or participation from area schools to create the competitive and enjoyable league experience we strive to provide. While we’re disappointed that we couldn’t make it happen this summer, we sincerely appreciate everyone who registered and supported the effort.

For those who have already registered, registration fees will be refunded. We appreciate your patience as we process those refunds.

The good news is that we’re already working on planning a high school softball clinic and other opportunities for players, potentially in July. Our goal is to provide a fun environment where players can continue developing their skills, stay active, and enjoy the game. We’ll share more details as those plans come together.

Thank you for your understanding and for your continued support of our organization. We remain committed to providing quality softball opportunities for athletes in our community, and we look forward to seeing everyone on the field again soon.
