Transportation funding is critical to the Maine economy. Industry, the MaineDOT, current and future administrations, and the legislature must continue to work together to find a long-term funding solution. This is a major win for the State of Maine, but there is still work to be done. MBTA has provided a unified voice for people and organizations across Maine’s transportation industry, and we will continue our mission of promoting safe, efficient, and practical policies that improve the movement of people and goods throughout our state.

Maine will transfer nearly $136 million from a $148 million fiscal year surplus to the highway fund.

The transportation community and industry family has been sounding the alarm for safety on our roadways for decades. These aren’t just headlines; these are real people and families that are impacted. Worker safety while performing their duties must be a priority.

The 57-year-old DOT worker was removing tire debris from the road when he was hit by a 39-year-old driver in a Cadillac SUV.

Congratulations to our member, Sargent, on two major achievements in its 100th year in business! The employee-owned contractor was ranked #375 on Engineering News-Record’s 2026 Top 400 Contractors list and also received the 2026 ASCE Maine Kitty Breskin Award for the Exit 35 interchange project in S**o. The award-winning project, completed in partnership with the Maine Turnpike Authority, HNTB, and Stantec, showcased innovative engineering solutions for a complex new interchange on I-95. Well-deserved recognition for a team that continues to make an impact across Maine and beyond!
