Fall is just around the corner, and that means the hours are changing at one of Augusta’s most historic treasures! 🍂

Old Fort Western - Augusta, Maine will be open Friday through Monday, 10 AM–4 PM, from September through October 12th.

Built in 1754 on the banks of the Kennebec River, Fort Western is a National Historic Landmark and offers visitors a chance to step back in time and explore Augusta’s rich history, including the original 1754 garrison.

So as the leaves begin to change, make a little time for history! 🍁 Whether you're a longtime Augusta resident or visiting our city, fall is a beautiful time to explore Fort Western.

Calling all witches, warlocks, creatures of the night, and lovers of a good costume party! 🖤 The 2nd Annual Witch Ball, hosted by the Dancing Witches of Merkaba Sol, is coming to the Governor Mill Mansion on Saturday, October 3rd from 6–10 PM.

Expect an evening of dancing, costumes, a cash bar, light bites, mystical readings, photo opportunities, surprises, and maybe even a performance by the Dancing Witches themselves! 🔮💃

Take advantage of these last days of August. ☀️ Because before we know it, the mornings will feel crisp, the days will get shorter, and summer will start slipping away.

So take the walk. Enjoy the sunshine. Watch the Kennebec River sparkle. And, most importantly, remember to be joyful in the moment. 💛

One of our favorite ways to enjoy this time of year? The Kennebec River Rail Trail.

Start right here in downtown Augusta, under the Memorial Bridge, and follow the trail along the river into Hallowell and on to Gardiner. Three downtowns. One beautiful trail. So many reasons to get outside and explore.

Grab a coffee or something to eat in Augusta, take in the river views, then make your way to our neighboring downtowns. Stop along the way. Shop local. Try somewhere new. Say hello. Enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

Because summer doesn't have to be about squeezing everything in. Sometimes it's simply about slowing down long enough to notice how beautiful it is. 🌿☀️

What a special night for Augusta! ❤️

Last night, our community gathered at Mill Park for the unveiling of the new Martha Ballard Memorial, honoring the famed midwife and healer whose life and work are an important part of Augusta’s history.

A huge thank you to the Martha Ballard Memorial Committee and everyone who played a role in bringing this project to life. What a beautiful addition to Mill Park and a wonderful way to celebrate and preserve a piece of Augusta’s history for generations to come.
