🚲 Happy World Bicycle Day! 🚲

Celebrated every June 3, World Bicycle Day was officially recognized by the United Nations in 2018 to highlight the bicycle as a simple, affordable, healthy, and sustainable way to travel. It's a day to celebrate the freedom of two wheels and encourage people of all ages to get outside and ride.

Here in Augusta, there's no better place to enjoy a ride than the Kennebec River Rail Trail. Beginning beneath Memorial Bridge in downtown Augusta, the trail follows the scenic Kennebec River south through Hallowell and all the way into Gardiner, offering beautiful views, fresh air, and a great opportunity to experience the Kennebec Valley by bike.

Before you hit the trail, make sure your bike is ready for the season. Our downtown friends at Capital City Cycles LLC can help with tune-ups, repairs, and expert advice to keep you rolling smoothly.

Whether you're commuting, exercising, or simply enjoying a leisurely ride along the river, World Bicycle Day is the perfect excuse to dust off your bike and explore all that Augusta, Hallowell, and Gardiner have to offer.

Meet the faces of Capital City Coins! ✨

Owner Will Guerrette, Manager Josh, and Chris, who has been part of the team for 6 years, are keeping history, collecting, and community alive right here in downtown Augusta.

Originally known as China Lake Coins in Hallowell, the business was owned by Frank and Ingrid before Will purchased it and took over in 2008. The shop later moved to State Street in Augusta, and 10 years ago became Capital City Coins when they settled into their current downtown location at 231 Water Street.

Whether you’re an experienced collector or just getting started, Capital City Coins is the place for all things numismatics β€” coins, currency, sports cards, jerseys, memorabilia, and so much more. They also buy gold, silver, sterling flatware, jewelry, and old coins, plus carry supplies to help keep your collections in top shape.

One of the best parts of stopping in? Talking with Will. His knowledge and passion for history make every visit an experience of its own.

πŸ“ 231 Water Street, Augusta
πŸ•™ Tuesday, Wednesday & Saturday: 10 AM – 4 PM
πŸ•™ Thursday & Friday: 10 AM – 5 PM
❌ Closed Sunday & Monday

Be sure to stop by and discover the stories, history, and treasures waiting inside Capital City Coins!

Rain didn’t stop this community. β˜”οΈ

Yesterday, hundreds of runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters showed up in downtown Augusta for the 15th Annual Miles for Mills 5K supporting the Travis Mills Foundation and what an incredible day it was.

From the runners braving the weather to the families lining the streets cheering people on, the energy throughout downtown was truly special. We loved seeing our community come together to support such an important mission while bringing so much life and activity to Augusta over Memorial Day Weekend.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, supported local businesses, and helped make the day such a success!
