Capital Area New Mainers Project

Capital Area New Mainers Project At a time when fearful rhetoric dominates the news, CANMP embraces immigrants and refugees in our communities.

The Capital Area New Mainers Project is a cross-cultural organization that welcomes immigrants and works to create a thriving, integrated community in central Maine. We view immigrants and refugees as “New Mainers” – people who bring much-needed energy, vitality, and diversity to help our communities grow and thrive. Based in Augusta, CANMP works to meet the immediate and long-term needs of immigr

ants by coordinating volunteer support services, soliciting in-kind donations, and hosting meetings and events to give immigrants and local community members the opportunity to build lasting relationships. CANMP is a partner of the United Way of Kennebec Valley. To support our work, please sent your tax-deductible contribution to:

Islamic Graphic Art Fun for Kids is back!

Sunday, May 17 from 1 to 3 PM at the Hallowell Multicultural Center, 20 Union Street.

Join us for a hands-on afternoon where kids explore the beauty of Islamic artistic traditions: geometric patterns, calligraphy, and the rich visual language that has shaped art and architecture across cultures for over a thousand years. Big thanks to our friends at Waterville Creates for providing stamps and supplies to bring these designs to life.
