Capital Area New Mainers Project At a time when fearful rhetoric dominates the news, CANMP embraces immigrants and refugees in our communities.

The Capital Area New Mainers Project is a cross-cultural organization that welcomes immigrants and works to create a thriving, integrated community in central Maine. We view immigrants and refugees as “New Mainers” – people who bring much-needed energy, vitality, and diversity to help our communities grow and thrive. Based in Augusta, CANMP works to meet the immediate and long-term needs of immigrants by coordinating volunteer support services, soliciting in-kind donations, and hosting meetings and events to give immigrants and local community members the opportunity to build lasting relationships. Today, July 31, is my last day as Executive Director of the Capital Area New Mainers Project. I wrote to you in May to share the news, and I promised then that this was a transition, not a goodbye. That is still true. But I could not let today pass without one more thank you.

A quick follow-up to my note earlier this week. We're moving Islamic Graphic Art Fun for Kids from this Sunday, May 17 to Sunday, May 31, same time (1:00 to 4:00 PM) and same place (the Hallowell Multicultural Center, 20 Union Street).
