There’s something special about serving at Metzudah. It’s not simply checking a box, completing a task, or filling a volunteer slot. It’s stepping in & becoming part of the village surrounding a new mom & baby. 🍼Because we all know raising a child takes a village!

If you’ve completed the onboarding process to become a Metzudah volunteer, but haven’t made a habit of checking the Lotsa Helping Hands app, this is your invitation to be intentional about getting involved!

Needs & opportunities are added to the app regularly—sometimes they’re practical, sometimes relational, sometimes behind the scenes. Some may take an hour or less. Others may become a consistent way you serve. The beauty is that you get to choose where and how you can help!✨

So, current volunteers, open the app. Look through the list of needs. Find something that fits. Say yes when you can. Show up. Build relationships. Lend a hand. Because the little things matter!❤️

Currently, one of our biggest operational goals at Prepare for Babies is building a fully staffed team that can faithfully steward each responsibility within Metzudah.

When Metzudah opened last August, Rushton & Mandy Metzler, founders of Prepare for Babies, stepped into their roles as our first House Parents. A few months later, God led Katie Adkins to join the team as our Director of Operations.

As we looked toward summer, we knew another important transition was ahead: our Program Director would be stepping down, making filling this role one of our highest priorities.

We’re looking for someone who:

🌟Has a genuine desire to serve others
🌟Has experience mentoring and/or training young people
🌟Is passionate about equipping new and expectant mothers to pursue abundant lives rooted in Jesus Christ
🌟 Is ready to lead with both love and truth

Today is National Nonprofit Day. 💙

And while today gives us a reason to celebrate nonprofits, it also gives us a reason to celebrate the people who make the work possible.

At Prepare for Babies, we believe every mother deserves to be surrounded by hope, dignity, truth, and people who genuinely care about what happens next.

That belief is what brought Metzudah Maternity Supportive Housing to life. What started as a vision became a home—and today, mothers are being welcomed into a place where they can receive practical support, relational care, and the opportunity to build a stronger future for themselves and their babies.

None of this happens because of one organization alone.

It happens because people give, volunteer, pray, donate, show up, share our mission, open doors, and believe that these mothers and babies are worth investing in.

So today, on National Nonprofit Day, thank you. ❤️

Thank you for believing in this mission.
Thank you for believing in these mothers.
Thank you for believing in their babies.
And thank you for helping us turn hope into action.

We recently shared GA’s Betsy’s Law as being a key factor that has allowed PFB to establish a maternity supportive housing residence in our area, but you may be wondering, what exactly is Betsy’s Law?

A few weeks ago we had the chance to learn all about the story behind the bill when we hosted the woman who made it a reality, Elizabeth Edmonds! At the age of 15 Elizabeth became pregnant & bravely placed her daughter, Betsy, for adoption. She & her husband have been huge activists for the pro-life movement for many years now, & we were honored to have them visit Metzudah!

📜Fun Fact: Governor Kemp signed Betsy’s Law in May of 2022, the very same month & year that Prepare for Babies was established! Coincidence? No way! Just God being God!

Last night the Adkins Adult Small Group from 1116 Church led us in a worship night at Metzudah! It felt especially good for the soul to gather together & worship in a more intimate setting than our usual Sunday morning church service. We hope this will be the first of many Metzudah worship nights!

We’re hiring a Program Director for Metzudah Maternity Supportive Housing. ❤️

This is more than a position. It’s an opportunity to walk alongside young women as they navigate pregnancy, motherhood, healing, and the next chapter of their lives — while pointing them toward Christ.

Our Program Director provides relational care to each Guest, coordinates Care Plans, supports program administration, and equips House Parents, Relief Staff, and Mentors to care for each mother well.

We’re looking for someone who:
✝️ Has an authentic, growing relationship with Jesus Christ
🤍 Leads with both love and truth
🌿 Seeks the Holy Spirit’s guidance in discernment and decision-making
🫶 Is passionate about empowering young women as individuals and mothers
🧭 Can offer grace while maintaining healthy boundaries and accountability
💪 Is equipped to navigate challenges, crises, and complex situations with wisdom and compassion
🔒 Understands the importance of confidentiality and trust
🎓 Has a bachelor’s degree or equivalent approved experience
✨ Has at least two years of experience mentoring or training young people

If you believe God may be calling you to serve, lead, mentor, and make a lasting difference in the lives of young women and their babies, we’d love to hear from you.

❓Metz-what-uh? Metz-oo-duh!

✝️ Metzudah is a Hebrew word meaning refuge/fortress— which is often Biblically used to describe God, as well as, a physical place of safety. We’re aware the name can be tricky, but the meaning makes total sense as the home provides refuge for pregnant women in need!

🏡 Metzudah is currently the only Maternity Supportive Housing Residence (MSHR) in the CSRA, & serves as a ministry of Prepare for Babies. Thanks to Georgia’s Betsy’s Law, we are able to house up to 6 expectant mothers at a time for the duration of their pregnancies & through the first 18 months of their babies’ lives!
