Prepare For Babies

*“I hope this helps just a little.”*

Those were the words written on the note tucked inside an envelope delivered to Prepare for Babies last week.

And then we saw the donation: $847.73

Six weeks ago, a local 8-year-old girl learned the meaning of abortion. She couldn’t shake the heaviness her little heart felt after hearing of this sad reality that exists in our world. So she decided to do something.

She started making potholders.

Her family, friends, church family and community rallied around her—buying potholders, donating supplies, giving money, encouraging her and even helping her weave. Then, she took the **$1,695.45** she raised and donated half to Augusta Care Pregnancy Center and the other half to Prepare for Babies.

We were undone.

On her note, *“I hope this helps just a little.”*

**Oh, sweet girl. If you only knew.**

Your gift is going to help us provide a safe, loving refuge and other kinds of support for pregnant mamas and their babies. Someday, we hope to share stories with you of the lives touched by your gift.

Jesus said, *“Let the little children come to me…for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”* — Matthew 19:14

An 8-year-old girl decided that feeling sad about something wasn't enough—she wanted to help. Allow her to be a reminder to us all of what childlike faith looks like.

She saw a need.
Her heart was moved.
She used what was in her hands.
And she gave with joy.

Imagine what could happen if each of us responded to the needs of vulnerable mothers and babies with that same compassion and obedience.

Thank you to her mama, her pastor, her church family, and every person who purchased a potholder, donated supplies, gave, prayed or encouraged her along the way.

This is the Body of Christ.

This is community.

And this is how we build a culture where **every mother is supported and every child is wanted.** 🩷

And maybe this story is an invitation for the rest of us, too.

You don’t have to do something extraordinary. You simply have to be willing to use what God has placed in your hands.

Faithfulness Friday 🤎

🍂Today, we’re grateful for God’s faithfulness in providing community! We recently had such a sweet time gathering with LILY Moms of Augusta at First Presbyterian Church!

LILY stands for “Life in the Little Years,” a fitting name for this faith-based ministry that supports and builds community among women with children from conception through kindergarten. We were blessed to spend time with these moms, share about the mission of Prepare for Babies, and talk about the many ways our community can faithfully support moms and babies right here in the CSRA.

We’re also thankful for the joy of fellowship and the opportunity to enjoy a little fall fun together! 🍁 We wrapped up our time with a sweet fall craft—a beautiful reminder of the simple moments that bring us together.

A special thank you to Kadie and Clarin for faithfully creating space for connection and inviting us to share with the LILY Moms Group. We’re grateful for their commitment to supporting families and for every person who helps make a difference in the lives of moms and babies in our community. 💗

Faithfulness Friday - God's financial provision

Yesterday, another monthly donor said YES-and we saw the Lord’s provision at work.

Until now, we have not done any fundraising. For this season, the Lord has opened the door for us to invite others to partner financially in the work He is doing through Prepare for Babies.

Whether a $1 widow’s offering or a $2,000 king’s offering, every gift matters. Every donor matters. In God’s hands, generosity becomes safe refuge, loving care, and hope for mothers and babies.

FAITHFULNESS FRIDAY | Faithful in the Little Things

Sometimes God’s faithfulness is revealed through the people who simply keep saying yes.

Mandy helped carry the vision that became Prepare for Babies and Metzudah, but her faithfulness isn’t only seen in the big moments. It shows up in the ordinary ones too—the phone calls, the problem solving, the last-minute needs, and the willingness to jump in wherever necessary.

Recently, that looked like Mandy quite literally getting down on the floor—in a skirt, no less—while being guided over Zoom through a property safety inspection. It wasn’t glamorous. It probably wasn’t what she imagined when God first placed this ministry on her heart.

But that’s often what faithfulness looks like.

It is showing up.
It is serving when no one is watching.
It is doing the small thing because it matters to the people God has entrusted to us.

We are grateful for Mandy’s vision, but today we are especially grateful for her willingness to keep serving in the details.

Because sometimes the biggest evidence of God’s faithfulness is found in the smallest acts of ours.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” — Luke 16:10

Faithfulness Friday: Stories of His Goodness

Sometimes God’s faithfulness shows up in the most unexpected ways.

Shakira came to Metzudah to help care for our home through cleaning. But what she brought into the house was far more than clean floors and freshly prepared rooms.

As Shakira worked, she prayed.

She prayed over the home. She prayed over the mothers and babies who would walk through its doors. She prayed over the team called to serve them. She covered Metzudah in prayer as she moved from room to room. Her voice and praise grew louder and louder!

And during a particularly tender season, God used Shakira’s gentle presence and willing heart to minister deeply to our Live-in staff.

There was no program attached to it. No planned ministry moment. No title required.

Just one woman faithfully doing the work God placed in front of her—and allowing Him to use her while she did it.

That is one of the beautiful things about life at Metzudah. Ministry does not only happen in counseling sessions, Bible studies, staff meetings, or carefully designed programs. Sometimes ministry looks like cleaning a kitchen while praying over the woman who will someday sit at its table. Sometimes it looks like making a bed while asking God to protect the mother who will eventually sleep there. Sometimes it is simply noticing someone who needs encouragement and allowing the Holy Spirit to use your presence.

Shakira reminded us that every role matters in the Kingdom of God.

What may have looked like housekeeping became holy ground.

And once again, God reminded us that He is faithfully caring for Metzudah—not only through the people we intentionally bring onto the team, but through the people He sends across our path at exactly the right time.

We are grateful for Shakira, for her servant’s heart, and for the way she demonstrated something we never want to forget:

When we offer God the work of our hands, He can turn even the most ordinary act of service into ministry.

Two weeks ago, our very first Metzudah Guest transitioned into independent living with her little one — a beautiful milestone we are so grateful to celebrate. 🤍

For this brief season, the Metzudah nest is “in rest.”

We are taking intentional time to rest, reset, and refresh before welcoming our next Guests home. Rooms are being readied, supplies are being replenished, and our leadership team is slowing down long enough to revisit the foundational policies, procedures, and programming that guide our ministry.

One thing we know for certain: our Guests teach us so much.

Every woman who walks through our doors helps us learn how to serve more thoughtfully, love more intentionally, and steward this home more faithfully. We are deeply grateful for every lesson learned and every opportunity God gives us to grow.

As we prepare Metzudah for the women and babies who will call it home next, we would love your help filling the rooms with the practical items they will need.

Friday's Story of Faithfulness

A few days ago, our staff mentioned to our new Director of Operations, Amy, that we really needed laptops for both our growing team and the women we serve.

So Amy went to work and reached out to a friend who has faithfully come through time and time again for vulnerable mothers and their babies. She told Doug, “We really need 6–8 Chromebooks.”

And Doug said yes.

The only problem? He had no idea where those Chromebooks were going to come from. Chromebooks are rarely something he receives as donations.

But then… suddenly, and completely out of the blue, a nearby Christian school in Atlanta reached out to Doug. They had recently purchased new Chromebooks and wanted to donate their gently used ones.

Exactly what we needed. Exactly when we needed them. ❤️

And then there was Doug’s shirt. 😂

It says, “Hang in there… it gets worse.”

We laughed, but there is actually a little truth tucked into that humor.

Sometimes, before things get better, they really do get harder. The need becomes clearer. The resources feel thinner. The questions get louder. And the “How in the world are we going to do this?” starts creeping in.

But those are often the very moments when the Lord reminds us that He has been working all along.

We may not see the provision coming. We may not know the answer yet. But He does.

This week, His provision looked like a friend willing to say yes before he knew how, a Christian school willing to give generously, and a stack of gently used Chromebooks arriving at exactly the right time.

And the timing could not be sweeter.

Next week, we are onboarding new members of our Prepare for Babies team while continuing to build resources that will equip and empower the women we serve.

Once again, the Lord reminded us that He is already ahead of us—preparing the way and providing what we need before we can even see how He is going to do it.

We are so grateful for Doug, for his company, Unistar Technologies, for this generous Christian school, and for every person God continues to use to strengthen the ministry of Prepare for Babies.

Sometimes it really does get worse before it gets better.

But God is faithful in every part of the story.

His timing is so good. 💻❤️

Our Maria Guzman speaks with Monica Kelsey, the founder of Safe Haven Baby Boxes, about her personal story that inspired her to create the system that allows parents to safely, anonymously enter their babies into....
