Spudley has had quite the journey but is healed up and ready to find his forever home!

Spudley’s story:
The ACAS shelter reached out to us directly for help with two more small dogs, one of which was 5 month old Spudley.
What they knew about Spudley… “Spudley: 5MO Shih Tsu, surrendered by his owner because they cannot afford vet care. He has a broken leg, he came with xrays from their vet and our vet thinks it could just be splinted and crate rest to heal. But unfortunately our xray machine is awaiting repairs so we can’t check alignment and progress healing here at the shelter. He is 8lbs, super sweet and affectionate, up to date on vaccinations and Heartworm neg. He is not neutered yet, but our vet could do it for you if you took him”.
Because of the amount of time passed since injury to rescue Spudley was originally scheduled for amputation but the vat day of surgery decided to try splinting and monitor for improvement first. Many weeks later now (months even) and the little guy is healed up and got to keep the leg!!!!
When we took him in we partnered with East Coast Canine Rescue who financially covered much of his medical care while in foster care in GA recovering. Now that he is healed if interested in adopting you will need to contact eastcoastcaninerescue.org to apply.
Keep in mind that dogs like him have additional ongoing financial necessities, like grooming and require daily brushing, in addition to routine check ups at the vet, preventatives etc… don’t get a dog just because it looks cute. They are a financial commitment. This poor guy broke his leg and ended up at the shelter because no one could/wanted to pay for the care he then required. We will not let that happen to him again.
During this time he has been nothing but a love bug!!! He is a very sweet baby boy. He loves everyone including kids too.
