Between the August Calendar Fundraiser and our fall t-shirt sales, our school community brought in just shy of $10,000. Every family who contributed to the calendar drive and every person who bought a shirt made that number possible.
This is a rebuilding year for the PTO following last year's purchase of shade covers for the 5K playground, and so these funds will go back to Aiken Elementary students through academic and student programs and teacher appreciation efforts as those needs and opportunities come up during the year. We will report on how the funds are expected to be spent at our general meetings - the next of which is Monday, November 16.
We want to take this opportunity to invite everyone to come celebrate with us at Pelican's SnoBalls in Aiken for an AES Spirit Night Tuesday, September 22nd, from 3pm to 7pm! Come enjoy a late-summer shaved ice and take a photo with Maverick the AES mascot! A portion of all proceeds will go to further support initiatives and PTO programs at AES.
And there's good news for anyone who missed out on this year's AES shirts and hoodies: T-shirt and sweatshirt sales will reopen in November. Watch for the order link and deadline, and thank you in advance for your patience while we get the next round organized.
We are a small board working to cover as much ground as we can, and your response to these two efforts tells us loud and clear that you're behind us and this school. We are grateful.
