Saturday morning's DGOP Breakfast brought in two people who've spent years in the weeds of Georgia's election system:
- Dr. Jan Johnston, who served four years on the Georgia State Election Board, and
- Jason Frazier, a State Election Board investigator who has personally filed thousands of formal voter registration challenges across the state.

Per Election Assistance Commission data, Georgia's statewide voter registration has run around 103% of the citizen voting-age population โ the national average is closer to 73%. DeKalb County's own rate has climbed even higher, to roughly 109โ111%.
When Georgia voluntarily ran its rolls through the federal SAVE database, it turned up nearly 43,000 deceased registrants still on the books, about 2,500 apparent noncitizens, and another 46,000 records the system couldn't confirm one way or the other.

Jason shared research he pulled specifically on our county: 26 pairs of registrations where a voter's first and last name appear transposed between two separate records โ same address, same birth year, but two different voter ID numbers. Each pair represents two potential ballots tied to one person. He filed it as a formal complaint months ago and is still waiting on a resolution.
One of the sharpest points of the morning: even Georgia's own State Election Board investigators don't have direct access to voter roll data to investigate complaints โ the Secretary of State's office controls that access. Jason put it plainly: an election you can't fully see or verify at every step is, in his words, a "trust me" system. Government's one job here is keeping an accurate, current list. When that job isn't done โ and oversight itself is blocked โ citizens end up doing the follow-up work themselves, one registration challenge at a time.

You don't need a data background to help. Poll watching and registration review are exactly how errors like DeKalb's get found in the first place. ๐ฌ Comment "๐'๐ ๐๐ก" below and we'll connect you with our local election-integrity team.

Conversations like this are exactly why we do these breakfasts. Come hear the next one on September 12th. Bring a neighbor who's never been before.
