For more than 20 years, Ari, a server from Phoenix, has dedicated his life to the restaurant industry—taking pride in delivering memorable dining experiences and supporting his family through the work he loves.

Last November, everything changed. A devastating motorcycle accident left Ari with multiple fractures, a surgically replaced clavicle, and months of physical therapy ahead. Unable to work, he faced not only a long physical recovery, but the financial uncertainty that so many food service workers experience in times of crisis.

While Ari’s family and friends stepped in to help, Giving Kitchen provided critical financial assistance that helped cover his rent and utilities—relieving the burden on both Ari and his loved ones and allowing him to focus fully on healing.

“I support my family financially, and the assistance provided by Giving Kitchen not only took pressure and weight off my shoulders but also helped relieve the stress of my entire family. My parents and other relatives are not wealthy, so while so many of my loved ones stepped up and offered help, the financial support offered by Giving Kitchen helped prevent numerous people I care deeply for from going through savings on my behalf.”

Today, Ari is making incredible progress and remains determined to return to the career he’s passionate about. He credits Giving Kitchen with making an overwhelming situation manageable and giving him the stability he needed during one of the most difficult chapters of his life.

✨ As if February 17 didn’t already have enough to celebrate… ✨
From Lunar New Year to Fat Tuesday, today is full of joy—and we’re adding one more reason to cheer.

Today, we’re humbled to share a big GK milestone: $17,000,000 in financial assistance awarded to food service workers facing crisis. 🎉

Because behind every celebration is you—the caterers turning moments into memories, the bartenders and servers who make toasts possible, the cooks and dishwashers keeping the line moving, the food truck crews, and the school cafeteria teams who nourish our kids every day. You make community happen.

This milestone belongs to you—and to the partners, donors, volunteers, and GK staff who believe in a future where a crisis doesn’t end a career in food service.

Together, we are Giving Kitchen. We help food service workers.

“Things are starting to get better—something that wouldn’t have happened without Giving Kitchen's support.”

Joseph was building momentum in the kitchen when a sudden illness changed his life overnight. After months in the hospital and losing his income, he was left facing recovery without knowing how he’d keep a roof over his head.

That’s when he found Giving Kitchen.

With emergency rent and utility assistance—and steady guidance from his case manager—Joseph was able to focus on healing and navigating the long disability process. Today, he’s recovering and wants other food service workers to know: asking for help can be the first step toward stability.

🎙️ Before you hit play on Giving Kitchen's episode of Jeff & Jamie Feed 🎙️

We want to pause and share our deep gratitude for Supperland and the Charlotte community for their incredible support during the fall Charlotte Family Meal fundraiser. Because of you, local food service workers were able to receive critical assistance during times of crisis.

This episode—featuring Jen Hidinger-Kendrick of Giving Kitchen—dives into why the hospitality industry is so unique, how community support makes a real difference, and how moments like the Charlotte Family Meal help sustain the people who serve us every day.

🎧 Listen in to hear how compassion, community, and care come together—and thank you, Charlotte, for being such a powerful example of that impact to help our own.

In January, food service workers across the country did something incredibly brave: 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒔𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒑.

Because of that courage, Giving Kitchen reached incredible milestones last month: we awarded our $17 millionth dollar in financial assistance, supported our 37,000th client, and connected our 27,000th client to stability through our Stability Network—a powerful reminder that Asking For Help creates real impact.

To every server, bartender, manager, line cook, and chef who trusted us with your story: thank you. Asking For Help is an act of strength, and your bravery made stability possible for you and your family. Together, we are Giving Kitchen. We help food service workers.
