Sweet Memories and Community Connections 🍓

A few individuals from our residential program recently enjoyed a beautiful day at Southern Belle Farm picking fresh strawberries and making wonderful memories together!

After filling their baskets with sweet treats, the group stopped by Phenomenal Seafood for a delicious lunch of wings, burgers, and refreshing drinks.

Experiences like these create opportunities for connection, community, and joy. A special thank you to our incredible staff for helping make the day so meaningful, and to Southern Belle Farm and Phenomenal Seafood for their warm hospitality! ❤️

Chief Development Officer Shannon McClure joined host John Ray to talk about how InCommunity supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Metro Atlanta. What started 47 years ago in Roswell has grown into Georgia’s largest nonprofit I/DD provider, now serving 2,500 individuals and families each year.

Shannon shared how our personalized services—from residential and day programs to employment and community living—help people build meaningful, independent lives. She also reflected on the importance of community partnerships and the impact of events like our recent gala.

Mobility is about more than transportation. It’s about freedom, independence, opportunity, and connection.

In recognition of National Mobility Awareness Month and this year’s theme, “Say Hello to New Destinations,” we’re reflecting on how accessible transportation, and adaptive environments help create stronger, more inclusive communities for everyone.

Read our latest blog post to explore why mobility matters and how accessibility empowers individuals to live, work, and engage more independently every day. https://www.incommunityga.org/blog/2026/5/14/saying-hello-to-new-destinations-why-mobility-matters-for-independence-inclusion-and-community

Every journey begins with access. For many people, mobility is something they rarely have to think about. Getting to work, attending a doctor’s appointment, visiting friends, going shopping, or participating in community events are often routine parts of daily life. But for individuals with disabi...

Honoring Their Sacrifice This Memorial Day 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

At InCommunity, we’re grateful for the freedoms we enjoy every day because of their sacrifice. Today, we reflect with respect, gratitude, and remembrance.

As you spend time with family and friends, we invite you to take a moment to honor those who made it possible.

✨ THANK YOU ✨

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, sponsored, and supported the 2026 “Limitless” Gala at The Stave Room! Because of your generosity, we raised more than $380,000 to support programs and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) across Georgia. 💛

The evening celebrated the limitless potential, creativity, and achievements of the individuals we serve through inspiring performances from Orchestra SOOP, a live art activation with No More Liddering, exciting auctions, and meaningful community connection.

Special thanks to the Gala Committee and Kaitlyn Ross of 11Alive for emceeing this unforgettable evening, and to every supporter who helped make this event a success.

Together, we are creating a more inclusive future — without limits. 🌟

Prader-Willi Awareness Day: Recognizing a Lifelong Journey

Today, on Prader-Willi Awareness Day, we pause to recognize individuals living with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) and the communities that support them. As part of Prader-Willi Awareness Month, this day is an opportunity to deepen understanding and bring visibility to a condition that continues across the lifespan.

Prader-Willi syndrome is a rare genetic condition caused by the loss of function of specific genes on chromosome 15. While it is often identified in early childhood, PWS is lifelong, and its impact in adulthood is not always well understood.

For adults, one of the most defining features of PWS is hyperphagia, a persistent and overwhelming sense of hunger. This is not about choice or lack of discipline. It is driven by the brain and requires thoughtful, structured support. Without the right environment, individuals are at high risk for serious health complications.

Prader-Willi Awareness Month reminds us that awareness is not a one-time effort. It is ongoing. It calls on all of us to keep learning, to keep improving, and to ensure that adults with PWS are seen, supported, and valued.
