On March 16, State Rep. Sam Park introduced a House resolution that not only recognized the Atlanta spa shootings as an act of anti-Asian violence but honored five AAPI women for their unwavering advocacy in the aftermath of the shootings.

These incredible women include Georgia AAPI Hub's own Founder and Director Victoria Huynh; Stephanie Cho, Director of Demo Lab South and former Executive Director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta; Sarah Park, President of Korean American Coalition Metro Atlanta and the first immigrant woman elected to Duluth City Council; Sonjui Kumar, Board Chair of Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta; and Aparna Bhattacharyya, Executive Director of Raksa.

Although is coming to a close, we not only recognize the gender-based violence women endure but honor the women leaders who continue to show up for our communities every day.

As part of our 5th annual commemoration, the 3/16 Day of Remembrance Alliance hosted a community luncheon embodying the theme of "Healing From Within."

Community members gathered to break bread and participated in a workshop faciliated by artist Gyun Hur and Dr. David Kim. Together we learned how our bodies respond to trauma and grounding techniques we can use to care for ourselves. Participants also engaged in reflective creative practices such as art, writing, & family archive exploration to honor lived experiences shaped by migration, racialized violence, gendered trauma, & collective resilience.

Thank you & for facilitating a morning of healing, reflection, and community building. We are also grateful for Payne-Corley House for their support.
