Spend some time with the Art Association this week!

Saturday we will have a discussion on the film “Art is Essential” at the Cultural Center from 1-4pm. Bring your favorite material and we will create together while we watch and talk about the short film. This is a free event in collaboration with artist, Michael Dean.

Monday we will have our 3rd Adult Art Camp workshop - Water Marbling! We will marble paper, bookmarks, and items for our junk journaling session. This workshop will take place at the Cultural Center from 5-7 pm. There is a $15 material fee.

Wednesday stop into the Muchnic Gallery to see Gipsy Boone-Koelliker’s show “Blessings in Disguise” on the bottom floor of the Muchnic. On the 2nd floor you will find many pieces from our permanent collection installed. This exhibit was curated by our Student Representative, Annika TenBroek. Free admission into the gallery.

We are looking forward to seeing you!

Part 2 of our Adult Art Camp! Today we worked on bunting and explored many different materials. Some people painted. Some people sewed. And some used their linocuts from last weeks session. We have two more workshops left if you are interested in joining us! We will work on water marbling next. 🙂

MATCH DAY IS TODAY!

The donation portals are OPEN NOW, and we’re asking our community to help us reach our $10,000 Match Day goal!

At the Atchison Art Association, we believe everyone deserves Access to the Arts. Your support helps us create a more accessible and inclusive community while supporting local artists, arts education, and opportunities for people of all ages to experience and engage with the arts.

One of our biggest priorities is raising funds toward a permanent accessibility ramp at the Historic Muchnic Gallery. This project will help ensure that this treasured Atchison landmark is welcoming and accessible to everyone.

There are two ways to give TODAY:

In person: Join us at the Event Center from 4–7 PM to make your gift in person and be part of Match Day.

Online: The donation portal is open now, so you can make your gift anytime.

As a special Match Day incentive, gifts of $250 or more automatically include a Patron of the Arts membership, with benefits including discounts on workshops and ticketed events, invitations to receptions and members-only events, free entry to the Community Showcase, and more.

Every gift, no matter the size, helps move us closer to our $10,000 goal and a more accessible future for the arts in Atchison.

It was a wonderful day for the Atchison Art Association!

We started work on our new mosaic that will be at the International Forest of Friendship.

And we had our first Adult Art Camp workshop today! We worked on patterned Lino-cuts that we will use for the next workshop. We still have room if you are interested in joining us. 😉

We love adding beauty to our town and teaching others how to express themselves through art! 🤗

Match Day 2026: Help Us Reach Our $10,000 Goal

At the Atchison Art Association, we believe everyone deserves Access to the Arts.

Access to the arts means more than simply opening our doors. It means ensuring every member of our community has the opportunity to experience, create, and engage with art—regardless of age, ability, or financial circumstances.

Our biggest fundraising priority this year is raising $32,000 to construct a permanent accessibility ramp at the Historic Muchnic Gallery. This project will make one of Atchison's most treasured historic homes welcoming and accessible to everyone, allowing more visitors to enjoy exhibitions, educational programs, and community events.

Access also means supporting artists. Through our Artist-in-Residence Program, we provide working artists with studio space, a stipend, and opportunities to connect with the community. In return, our artists help expand arts education throughout Atchison. Our current Artist-in-Residence, Mia Haverkamp, leads our Kids Art Club and many of our youth education programs, inspiring the next generation of artists while continuing her own creative practice.

When you invest in the Atchison Art Association, you're investing in a more vibrant, creative, and inclusive community.

As a special Match Day incentive, any gift of $250 or more automatically includes a Patron of the Arts membership, which comes with:

Discounted pricing on yoga and art education workshops
Personal invitations to opening receptions and events
Free entry into the Community Showcase
Discounts on ticketed events
An annual Art Calendar
Invitations to exclusive members-only events

Our Match Day goal is $10,000, and every gift helps us move closer to making the arts more accessible for everyone in our community.

Thank you for believing in the power of art and for helping us create a more accessible future for Atchison.
