Long Live the Fridge (and perhaps some of the things that were left in it...). The Music Tent backstage fridge finally bit the dust. Ah, how many lunches got stored in this thing? The stage crew promised that they'll transfer as many of the add-ons as they can to the new unit when it is installed.

Summer is on the way! And so is ESARC. We've got a smaller-than-usual crew this season, but are working our way back from COVID along with the rest of the Festival. Watch for our livestreamed concerts, coming to you all summer long from the beautiful Benedict Music Tent. Hopefully we won't have to pause for any thunderstorms this year!

Who here had the assignment of running sound for the Saturday morning opera masterclasses at Wheeler Opera House? That was my gig in 2011, and I enjoyed it immensely!

I am very sad to share the news that Ed Berkeley passed away unexpectedly yesterday, just hours before the downbeat of The Magic Flute. The show went on, and all of the cast and crew handled it like the total pros they are. ESARC gives us the chance to work with some of the best, and Ed was certainly on that list!

Opera director Edward Berkeley, 76, died unexpectedly Saturday. The Aspen Music Festival production of “The Magic Flute,” directed by Berkeley, went on Saturday night and was dedicated to his memory.

When you absolutely, positively must make your organ louder than the entire orchestra- accept no substitutions other than a 12 speaker JBL Vertec array and 4 EAW subs. Stay tuned for how we got an offstage female chorus to be triggered by the Hauptwerk organ with a portamento slide...

Senior Engineer David Angel working with his assistant Adam Cambell on the surround sound mix for the Aspen Chamber Symphony during week three. Some of the great features of the LAWO are the great color assignments you get, but more importantly the ability to quickly setup your console configuration to a single layer that handles both surround and stereo discreet mixes.
