Jim Smith, in his trademark white Akubra hat, coached the Gentlemen of Aspen RFC to an undefeated 1987 season, crowned by a memorable Ruggerfest final victory over Los Angeles RFC.
Warm, affable, approachable, and proudly Australian, Jim took a sincere interest in his players and cared deeply about them, both on and off the field.
Although he spent only one season in Aspen, he left an indelible mark on the club and everyone he coached.

Rest in peace, Coach Jim Smith. Forever a Gentleman.
