Mirror Image Arts passion and purpose is to disrupt the school to prison pipeline. We work with youth (ages 7-21) in schools and juvenile detention centers.

Mirror Image Arts utilizes interactive theatre, positive youth development, trauma-informed and restorative approaches. Through our work, we aim to give youth access to the arts while opening up spaces for them to express themselves through play, imagination and dialogue. To feel valued, seen, and heard. To be experts of their own lives and have the opportunity to make mistakes and come back stronger. To practice their resilience and their potential.

A night of true community and collective generosity. Meet some of the incredible youth in our program, hear their stories, and experience the impact of Restorative Theatre™ firsthand.

Last year, Youth Advisory Board member Trinity Johnson took the stage and recited her original poem, "A Bird and Its Clipped Wing." An unforgettable moment of courage and artistry.

Yesterday, Mirror Image Arts was led in an incredible poetry workshop by Pikes Peak Region Poet Laureate Ashley Cornelius! The workshop centered on Decolonizing Imagination and Honoring our Identities through Intersectionality. It was a truly beautiful and healing experience for all of us.

Ashley is a poet, artist, activist, speaker, and therapist. As she puts it: "I believe in the power of poetry and creative expression as a tool for healing, personal growth, and emotional exploration."

We are deeply grateful to Ashley for being here with us!

That's real feedback from a participant in It Starts With Us, our professional learning program for adults serving youth! Through consultation and theatre-based curriculum, we explore play as a tool for healing, belonging, and building authentic relationships with students. Adults practice transformational conflict and curiosity to build intentional, supportive cultures rooted in evidence-based approaches.

This is what happens when we invest in the adults who show up for young people every day. 🙌
