Today we Celebrate Memorial Day with a photograph that captured a moment that became a symbol.

Perhaps no Pulitzer Prize–winning photograph is more widely recognized than Joe Rosenthal’s iconic image of six U.S. Marines raising the American flag during the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Captured on February 23, 1945—just five days after troops landed—the photograph quickly became a defining image of World War II. Transmitted by the Associated Press within hours, it appeared on front pages across the country almost immediately.

Its impact went far beyond the battlefield. The image became the centerpiece of a war-bond campaign that helped raise $26 billion in 1945, later appeared on a U.S. postage stamp, and ultimately inspired the Marine Corps War Memorial—a lasting tribute to those who served.

This Memorial Day, we remember not just the image, but the sacrifice it represents.

❤️🤍💙 Honor. Courage. Commitment.

Tomorrow we celebrate Bike to Work Day 🚴‍♂️

We’re highlighting the energy of movement through Cyclists (1986), a dynamic series by Scottish artist Peter McLaren. His work captures riders in full “action mode,” with bold, large-scale figures racing forward in vibrant color.

These early pieces, often created in oil on board or mixed media, bring speed, motion, and momentum to life—perfectly reflecting the spirit of today.

Whether you’re commuting, cruising, or just enjoying the ride, get our your bike because tomorrow is a great day to get on a bike and go. 🌿

Today we celebrate International Family Day 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

We’re honoring the meaning of family through art with Family (1986), a collage on wood by acclaimed artist Romare Bearden. This intimate and expressive work captures the essence of connection, love, and everyday life.

Originally created as a model for a larger ceramic tile mural at the Joseph P. Addabbo Federal Building in Jamaica, New York, the piece reflects Bearden’s powerful storytelling and ability to portray the richness of human relationships.

A beautiful reminder that family—however we define it—is at the heart of our shared experience. 💛

Today we honor mothers all over the world 💐

We’re celebrating motherhood through art with The Virgin and Child Embracing, a 17th-century painting by Giovanni Battista Salvi da Sassoferrato, housed in the National Gallery, London.

Depictions of the Virgin Mary and Christ Child are among the most enduring images of mother and child in art history. In this tender scene, the child reaches lovingly toward his mother, capturing a timeless bond of care and connection.

One of the most mesmerizing details is the beautifully rendered fabric and drapery—showcasing the artist’s incredible skill and devotion to his craft.

Today, we celebrate the love, strength, and warmth of mothers everywhere. 💖
