Last night we held our final Council meeting of the Fraternal Year. We took a special moment to recognize outgoing District Deputy Paul Sidari for his service to Council 109. Grand Knight Gallo awarded DD Sidari with a “key to the Council” as a token of appreciation and brotherhood. "DD Sidari is a man of faith and action; few Knights exemplify our Order and Faith as he does.” DD Sidari will be deeply missed, and we root for him as he goes on to his next assignment!

Great news! Last weekend we attended the MA State KofC Convention. We are exceptionally proud to report that our Council won a membership gain award AND we won the State Faith Program Award for our Communion Breakfast. This is a wonderful recognition of our Council's efforts! We really appreciate and value the recognition for our work by our Brothers from all across the Commonwealth! A heartfelt thank you to the full Council and Community for making us standout for the third year in a row! The State only awards four Program Awards a year (one in each programmatic category: Faith, Family, Community, and Life). In 2025 we won the award in the Community category for National Night Out, in 2024 we won the award in the Family category for our Christmas in July Food for Families program. We are regularly approached at events like these asking what our secret is and how are we able to do what we do – every time we say it's because we have a great team! Council 109 has a lot to be proud of, thank you for all your efforts! Please keep putting your Faith in Action!

Two great events today! Council #109 continued its impressive tradition at the State Championship Free Throw competition! We had one State Champion, one runner-up State Champion, and two fifth place winners!

Also, this morning, we held our annual "Autism Acceptance Touch A Truck" with the Arlington, Massachusetts Police Department. This year in addition to APD we had Arlington Fuel, Arlington Emergency Management, and Lightning McDream join us! The weather was gorgeous and we had something over 100 participants. Happy smiles, giggles, and more horns than I want to hear for a long time! Families and kids especially were building important relationships with our first responders! As we have said before, neurodivergence is a very complicated subject- events like this one help to build a community of support.

Thanks to all the Brothers who made it happen, from hotdogs to handshakes!

Great work #109, keep putting your Faith in Action!

On Sunday, a large contingent of us got to witness Council #109 Seminarian Paulo's installation as Lector at Saint John's Seminary. The mass and rite of institution was led by His Excellency, The Most Reverend, William Draper Byrne, who is the bishop of Springfield. Bishop Byrne's homily was wonderful. A highlight was his remarks on effective communication with a basis in the work of Stephen Covey - firstly one must have competence (aka a good message), and second, one must have character (aka be trustworthy). For the 10 seminarians being installed as lectors, the first is the Word of God, the second is their own character. That character is formed in many ways but exemplifies itself in their honesty, humility, faithfulness, and practice.

During lunch we got to enjoy meeting and speaking with many in Paulo's wider circle, include some of his "bonus" moms from the parishes he has served in! It is very special to see the community that has grown around him, especially since Paulo is so far from his home in Brazil. Please join us in supporting and praying for Paulo and his fellow seminarians!

At our meeting on Tuesday, we had the honor of hosting the worthy Massachusetts State Council Knights of Columbus State Deputy Bob Schwarz. Bob presented to us the Contest of Champions award from the Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus for our efforts in the 2024-2025 fraternal year. The Contest of Champions Award is presented to two Councils in each state jurisdiction: the Council with the highest percentage growth in membership, and the Council with the highest numerical gain in membership. This is our second year in a row winning this award! Thank you to all the Brothers of the Council who helped bring this award to #109. Let's keep impressing the Supreme Council with our efforts!
