Join us on Tuesday, June 23 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm to learn about the new statewide Environmental Monitoring Framework for floating offshore wind development, developed by the California Marine Sanctuary Foundation.

This framework provides a science-based foundation to guide the development of site-specific monitoring plans for species, habitats, and oceanographic processes that may be affected by floating offshore wind in California. It identifies potential environmental impacts from OSW development, proposes relevant monitoring questions, and reviews available and emerging monitoring tools.

This webinar is free and open to the public. To learn more and register, visit https://schatzcenter.org/2026/06/upcoming-webinar-introducing-the-california-offshore-wind-environmental-monitoring-framework/

This event is produced by the Pacific Offshore Wind Consortium.

Join us on Wednesday, June 17 from 12–2 pm PST to learn about secondary entanglements and ghost gear detection in the context of California floating offshore wind. The Schatz Center is leading research efforts to support advancements in monitoring for mooring lines used to anchor floating offshore wind farms. This webinar will describe findings from our recent environmental data memo and dive deeper into the MoorSea project– an ongoing CEC-funded project related to sensor package development and detection of marine entanglements.

This webinar is free and open to the public. To learn more and register, visit https://schatzcenter.org/2026/05/designing-sensors-to-detect-and-reduce-marine-entanglement-new-report-and-upcoming-webinar/

Join us on Thursday, April 30 for a discussion on America's nuclear waste gridlock and the future of Humboldt Bay’s own nuclear storage site with anthropologist Vincent Ialenti, research faculty member at Cal Poly Humboldt. In this talk, Ialenti examines the legal, financial, and cultural forces that have influenced the U.S. nuclear waste program, and where Humboldt Bay is situated within the broader national challenge of governing radioactive materials.

This event is free and open to the public and will be held on Thursday, April 30th from 5:30-7:00 pm in BSS 166 at Cal Poly Humboldt.
