We’re so excited to celebrate local seafood this week! This Saturday, you can learn more about local fish and Humboldt Dockside Market at the Arcata Farmers’ Market AND visit the Dockside Market at Madaket Plaza! If you want to support Humboldt’s fishers, buy fresh-caught seafood, and discover new ways to eat more local food — this is your chance!

Dockside Market is open every Saturday from 9am-1pm from June through October. If you are an CalFresh recipient, you can use SNAP benefits to purchase local fish every week! Enjoy fresh, nutritious food and support Humboldt’s food producers when you shop at every market.

Humboldt, are you ready for Local Food Month?! The markets will be brimming with activities all month long, so be sure to come support your local food producers and join the festivities!

🍺 Wednesday Sept 2 : Local Food Trivia with Pints for Nonprofits at Redwood Curtain Brewing Co. Arcata. $1 of every beverage sold throughout the day benefits your local food system, and trivia will begin at 6pm. Come raise a glass to your farmers!

🦪 Saturday Sept 5 : Local Seafood Day at Arcata Farmers’ Market. Learn about local seafood varieties, explore family-friendly activities, and grab some Humboldt Dockside Market stickers, recipe cards, and other takeaways. Come discover new ways to buy and eat local fish caught here in Humboldt!

🍯 Saturday Sept 12 : Honey Tasting & Beekeeping Day with HCBA at Arcata Farmers’ Market. Sample local honey varieties and learn from beekeepers about the magic that makes every jar of honey possible.

🌲 Thursday Sept 17 : Southern Humboldt Farmers' Markets Fundraiser at theolderiverwood. Join us at the Olde Riverwood in Phillipsville for live music, a silent auction, and a farmers’ market-themed cocktail menu.

Our markets are running out of tokens! 

Check your couch cushions, the bottom of your beloved re-usable tote bags, and bring those tokens to our farmers’ markets to keep us from having to purchase more!

Farmers’ Markets operated by the North Coast Growers’ Association proudly accept CalFresh EBT and offer the Market Match program, which helps make fresh food more affordable.

CalFresh EBT visitors can receive a daily $15 Market Match at each farmers’ market. Customers receive copper tokens for the benefits drawn from their card, and silver tokens for the market match. Customers then spend these tokens directly with food producers.

Market Match is a program of the Ecology Center and is funded by the California Department of Food and Agriculture through the California Nutrition Incentive Program and by the USDA through the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program, as well as other funders.

We’re hiring! 🌱

The North Coast Growers’ Association is looking for a Communications Coordinator to help tell the story of local food, regional agriculture, and the people who make our food system thrive.

This role will lead storytelling, content creation, social media, digital campaigns, and community engagement efforts across NCGA programs and the North Coast Food System Network. From farmers’ markets and food access and fundraising campaigns, this position plays a key role in connecting our community to the work we do every day.

We’re looking for someone creative, collaborative, organized, and passionate about food systems, agriculture, and community impact.

Big news!

Starting April 25, WIC recipients can now receive a $20 Market Match when using their benefits at NCGA farmers’ markets! That means more access to fresh fruits and vegetables grown right here in Humboldt County.

Using WIC at the market is simple. You can shop directly with WIC-authorized farmers using your card (it must have a QR code!), simply look for the signs posted at booths that say “WIC and Senior Benefits Welcome.” Then stop by the Market Info Booth to receive your Market Match in vouchers to spend on fruits, vegetables, and food-producing plants. If you do not have the QR code on your card, you can contact your local WIC office to get it updated.

Available at markets in Arcata, Eureka, Fortuna, McKinleyville, and Garberville.
