• What: faith250 Appleton: A Multifaith Journey Through America's Founding Texts
• Dates: Tuesday, June 23 (next week!) & June 30
• Time: 6:30 - 8:30 pm
• Location: Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (ELCA) | 2330 E. Calumet St, Appleton | Narthex & Congregational Life Room (CLR)
Join Wisconsin Interfaith Voter Engagement Campaign (WIVEC) and ESTHER Fox Valley for gatherings leading up to the 4th of July, where neighbors will read and discuss America's most inspiring founding words. It's a once-in-a-generation chance to counter division and build unity together.
Reflect on spiritual and moral questions, while encouraging in civic (not political) engagement.
Build lasting relationships between local leaders and institutions that care about our country’s future, grounded in pride, patriotism, empathy, and unity.
Break bread, discuss texts that are the cornerstone of American democratic history, and build fellowship, illustrating how an array of local institutions can form the basis of America’s positive civic health.
THE FOUR TEXTS (https://faith250.org/the-texts):
• The New Colossus, Emma Lazarus
• What to the Slave is The Fourth of July?, Frederick Douglass
• The Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson
• America The Beautiful, Katharine Lee Bates
Make the 250th anniversary of our country's founding a time of shared civic renewal, rather than division or conflict.
We will meet 2 times discussing two texts at each meeting, starting this coming Tuesday, June 23 and the following Tuesday, June 30 from 6:30-8:30pm. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
