HOT JUNE TEMPERATURES MAKE ROSES BURST INTO BLOOM!
The Scheig Center Gardens are awash in color as the roses around the gardens vie for attention along with all the other flowers also in full bloom. The free gardens, open daylight hours, are worth a visit this week! The gardens are located in Appleton's Veterans Memorial Park across from the ball field.

SAVE THE DATE! Volunteers at the Scheig Center Gardens are sponsoring "A Walk In the Park" on Saturday, July 18. This free event is open to the public and will feature activities for people of all ages. Kids can take part in a scavenger hunt, a make-and-take art project or get their faces painted by Ali. Adults can win free garden art;, purchase garden art or plants and listen to live music. There will also be Appleton - Bird City activities.
The event runs from 9AM to 1PM, rain or shine. Follow this site for more details.

THERE'S MORE TO THE SCHEIG CENTER GARDENS BESIDES THE PERRENIAL BEDS! There is also a wooded area with maintained trails. At this time of the year, the trails are lined with Dame's Rocket. "Dame’s rocket (Hesperis matronalis) is a Eurasian biennial belonging to the mustard family. It was introduced to North America in the 1600’s and has naturalized itself in moist, wooded areas, but can also invade open areas." Flowers are popping in all the garden areas. Check it out! EARY BLOOMS AT THE SCHEIG CENTER GARDENS COME IN A RAINBOW OF COLORS! Good gardens have something to see in every season and the Scheig gardens reflect that rule. The warm weather is making blooms pop in all sections of the gardens. Check it out! The gardens are free and open to the public daylight hours.

THE SCHEIG CENTER GARDENS COULD USE SOME HELP. Most of the maintenance work at the Scheig Center Gardens is done by volunteers. Having more help, especially at this time of year, would make a difference. Volunteers meet from 9-noon Tuesday mornings and work with park staff to make the gardens look beautiful for when you come to visit. All gardeners are welcome no matter your gardening experience. REDBUD TREES WILL GROW IN WISCOSIN. This beautiful tree, in the Scheig Center Gardens, is proof of that. The shape adds interest all year round with a haze of bright purple-pink color in the spring. The flowers, which appear along the branches, attract bees and butterflies. These trees grow best in well drained soil. Check out the Scheig gardens to see the Redbud and other interesting trees.
