Today, our hearts are heavy once again as we mourn the loss of another Pop Warner legend, Armye Witherspoon Sr.
For more than three decades, Armye dedicated his life to the children and families of Pop Warner. Beginning his journey in 1991, he served in countless roles—including Coach, Football Commissioner, Mid Florida Management Team member, and League Secretary. No matter the title, his commitment never wavered.
Armye was one of those rare individuals whose presence commanded respect. Many knew him as the stern face and strong voice of Mid Florida Pop Warner, but those who truly knew him also knew his heart. He cared deeply about this organization, its history, and the generations of young athletes who came through it. If there was ever a question about our league's past, Armye was the person everyone turned to.
His impact was recognized through some of Pop Warner's highest honors. Armye was a Mid Florida Pop Warner Pioneer Award Recipient, a Southeast Region Pioneer Award Recipient, and an inductee into both the Mid Florida Pop Warner Hall of Fame and the Southeast Region Hall of Fame. These honors reflected not only his years of service but also the tremendous legacy he leaves behind.
The Mid Florida Pop Warner family has lost a true pioneer, mentor, leader, and friend. While we grieve his passing, we are forever grateful for the countless hours, wisdom, leadership, and love he gave to this organization.
To the Witherspoon family, we extend our deepest condolences. Please know you are in our thoughts, our prayers, and our hearts.
Thank you, Armye, for everything you gave to Pop Warner. Your legacy will continue to inspire future generations, and your name will forever be woven into the history of Mid Florida Pop Warner.
Rest peacefully, Coach. You will never be forgotten. ❤️
