We were honored to be part of the latest episode of MITER Brands University’s Clear Impact Podcast.

MITER has become so much more than a supporter of The InVINCEable Foundation. They’ve believed in what we’re doing, stood behind our families, and helped us continue expanding that support to more families facing childhood cancer.

In this episode, Scott shares the story behind InVINCEable, what their family experienced through Vince’s cancer journey, and how that experience became a mission to help other families through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

He also talks about the importance of emotional support and grief care, the creation of InVINCEable Solace, and the people who have helped make this work possible.

We’re grateful to MITER for giving us the opportunity to share the story and, even more, for being such an important part of it.

There’s something powerful about hearing from someone who has been there.

Our recipient families have graciously shared their stories with us, and so many have told us how meaningful it was to connect with other parents and families who understood the experience. Not necessarily because they shared the same diagnosis, but because they understood the uncertainty, the fear, the long days, and all the moments that come with having a child with cancer.

That’s why we’re sharing their stories.

Because one family’s experience might be exactly what another family needs to hear. It might make someone feel less alone, help a friend or family member understand what they’re going through, or remind a parent that there are people who truly get it.

Behind every number on this graphic is a family, and behind every family is a story that looks a little different.
This year, because of people like you, 21 families facing childhood cancer have felt a little less alone, and more than $140,000 has gone straight to lightening the load they carry. For one family, that means covering the medical bills stacking up on the counter. For another, it’s the cost of getting to and from treatment: the gas, the parking, the nights in a hotel far from home. For another, it’s simply a little breathing room so a parent can focus on their child instead of a pile of paperwork.

No two families need exactly the same thing, and that’s the point. Every family’s situation is unique, so we meet them where they are and help where it’s needed most.

None of this happens without our community. Whether you gave, showed up, or shared our story, this is your impact too. Thank you for standing beside these families.

At ten years old, Alec was active, athletic, and rarely sat still. A football injury that would not heal turned out to be Ewing sarcoma, and the year that followed took his family three and a half hours from home for treatment in Philadelphia. Somewhere in the middle of it, the kindness of strangers stayed with him, and Alec told his parents he wanted to start a foundation of his own one day to help other families like theirs.

That idea is one his parents are carrying forward today.
Alec’s story holds a lot. The fear of waiting for answers, the year his family spent away from home for treatment, and the moments of normal life that meant everything. It is also a story about Janelle and Brent, and what they have learned about letting people help, leaning into their marriage when things got hard, and trusting their instincts as parents.

We are honored to share Alec’s story, and to walk beside the family who is carrying his vision forward.

Almost every parent who walks through this journey asks the same questions at some point.

What did we miss?
Was it something in our home, our water, our neighborhood?
Did I pass this down to my child?

The mind goes looking for a reason, because a reason would mean control and control would mean protection. But childhood cancer does not work that way.

The guilt you might feel is not evidence of any failure, it is evidence of how deeply you love your child. Those are not the same thing, even when it feels like they are.

You brought them to the doctors. You are here. You are advocating. That is what a good parent looks like.

If you are carrying guilt today, you don't have to carry it alone. This community has been where you are, and we're here for you now.

There is something about being handed a raincoat in the middle of the worst storm of your life. It doesn’t stop the rain. It doesn’t make the storm shorter. But it tells you that someone saw you out there, thought of you before you even knew you needed it, and came prepared.

That is what we try to be for every family who walks through the hardest door they’ve ever opened. Not a way out of the storm, but a reason to know they won’t have to stand in it alone.
