Apex Toastmasters meets every Thursday at 7:00 pm at Apex Baptist Church in downtown Apex, NC. Our diverse club membership is always supportive to those starting out, with helpful feedback and mentoring to build confidence. Come as a guest and see what it's all about!

👀 The Parts We Cannot See

Some of the most important things in life are not always visible.

Last week at Apex Toastmasters, Toastmaster George Caspar, DTM, led us through the thought-provoking theme “The Parts We Cannot See”—inviting us to reflect on the unseen forces, qualities, and experiences that shape who we are.

🎤 We enjoyed prepared speeches from Komot Gabriel, Amy Stephan, and Janesh Devkota, each bringing their own ideas and perspectives to the stage.

💬 Kameswari Sriadibatla led our Table Topics session, giving members and guests another opportunity to think on their feet, share their perspectives, and strengthen their impromptu speaking skills.

👏 A big thank you to our evaluators, functionaries, officers, and every member who stepped into a role and helped make the meeting possible.

That is one of the wonderful things about Toastmasters: we come together to practice speaking, but along the way we build something that may not always be visible—confidence, connection, courage, and growth.

🎯 **What’s the ONE thing that deserves more of your attention?**

That was the theme of another hugely successful, energetic, and highly interactive meeting at **Apex Toastmasters**! 09/17/2026

Our theme, **“The One Thing,”** explored a simple idea: we often believe that doing *more* means achieving more—but sometimes greater fulfillment and success come from doing **less, with greater focus**.

As Toastmaster for the evening, I was humbled to hear from several members that the theme felt unique, relatable, and gave them something to reflect on beyond the meeting.

🌟 **A few highlights from the evening:**

🎤 **Janesh Devkota** delivered a fascinating prepared speech about **building an AI application and taking it toward commercialization**—a great combination of technology, entrepreneurship, and real-world learning.

💬 **Amy Stephan** led an incredibly engaging **Table Topics** session. With a little extra time available, we were able to fit in many more questions and hear spontaneous responses from several members and guests. It turned into one of the most interactive parts of the evening!

Throughout the meeting, we kept coming back to one question:

**What is the ONE thing in your life right now that deserves more of your attention?**

Sometimes we don’t need twenty new goals.

Sometimes we just need clarity on **one**.

A big thank you to everyone who took on a role, participated, spoke, evaluated, answered a Table Topics question, and helped make the meeting such a memorable one.

📣 Another Inspiring Evening at Apex Toastmasters!

“If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will either.”

That thought fit perfectly with the theme of our September 10th meeting: QUOTES. 💬

Quotes have an amazing ability to capture a big idea in just a few words — to make us laugh, reflect, or sometimes give us exactly the encouragement we need at the right moment.

Our evening was filled with great speeches, spontaneous thinking, thoughtful evaluations, humor, and plenty of memorable words!

🎤 We enjoyed three prepared speeches:

Prashant — “Mentors, Mistakes & Me..”
Kiran — “When will it be done?”
Brian McCabe — “Lost in Communication?”, exploring communication styles through the Dynamic Leadership pathway.

We also had an engaging Table Topics session led by Ramesh, along with our Word of the Day, Humorist, evaluations, and — fittingly — a Quote of the Week to close out the evening.

👏 A big thank you to Jason Sesler, our Toastmaster of the evening, and to every member who stepped up to take a role and make the meeting possible.

That’s one of the things we love about Toastmasters: every meeting gives us another opportunity to speak, listen, learn, laugh, and grow together.

✨ And perhaps there’s a quote for that too:

“The journey of becoming a better communicator begins by simply having the courage to speak.”

💼 On the Job at Apex Toastmasters!

Our August 27 meeting proved that the workplace offers far more than deadlines and meetings—it also gives us stories, lessons, challenges, humor, and opportunities for growth.

Toastmaster Shelly Ryder guided us through the evening’s theme, “On the Job,” while our speakers delivered three engaging speeches:

🎤 Bob Sackmann, DTM — Bend, Oregon
🎤 Phoebe T. Thermitus — Change Happens
🎤 Prashant Agarwal — The Best $2 I’ve Ever Spent

The evening also featured creative Table Topics led by Kameswari Sriadibatla, thoughtful evaluations, workplace-inspired contributions from our functionaries, and plenty of laughter and learning along the way.

A heartfelt thank-you to every speaker, evaluator, role holder, guest, and member who contributed to another meaningful meeting. Whether we are communicating at work, navigating change, or inspiring others, Toastmasters helps us become more confident and effective leaders—both on the job and beyond.

🐾 **A Meeting Full of Stories, Smiles & Paw-sitivity!** 🐾

What a wonderful evening at **Apex Toastmasters** on August 20!

In celebration of **National Dog Month**, our meeting theme reminded us of some of the qualities our four-legged friends demonstrate so naturally — **loyalty, friendship, courage, patience, and unconditional support.** 🐶❤️

And just like every great Toastmasters meeting, the evening had a little bit of everything!

🎤 **Kiran Manjunath** reminded us about *“Quality over Quantity!”*
🎤 **Suzanne James** took us down memory lane with *“Class Reunions: Just Go! Trust Me!”*
🎤 **Komot Gabriel** captured something many of us can relate to with *“My Brain Has 37 Tabs Open.”* 😄

We also enjoyed spontaneous thinking during **Table Topics**, thoughtful evaluations, some much-needed humor, our Word of the Day, and a great team of members stepping into meeting roles and helping everything come together.

Toastmasters is not only about becoming a better speaker. It is about **showing up, trying something new, supporting one another, and growing together — one meeting at a time.**

A big thank-you to **Chandra B**, our Toastmaster for the evening, and to everyone who spoke, evaluated, volunteered for a role, or simply brought their energy and encouragement to the room.

🌊 Making Waves at Apex Toastmasters! 🌊

What a fantastic meeting we had last night at Apex Toastmasters!

Our theme for the evening was “Ocean” — a reminder that while the ocean may not solve our problems, it has a beautiful way of reminding us how small our worries are and how endless our possibilities can be.

The evening was filled with wonderful speeches, thoughtful evaluations, spontaneous Table Topics, plenty of smiles, and most importantly — connection and growth.

Just like the ocean, every Toastmasters meeting brings a new wave — a new idea, a new story, a new challenge, and another opportunity to grow.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the evening so memorable! 💙

What a fantastic evening at Apex Toastmasters!

Our “Master the Art of Conversation & Connection” workshop with Al Herr, DTM, of ImprovED was engaging, energetic, and full of practical learning. We explored how to move beyond routine small talk, ask better open-ended questions, listen with full attention, use humor, and make conversations more inclusive.

The interactive exercises—including mirroring, “Yes, And,” topic switching, and Freeze Tag—gave everyone a chance to practice being present, adaptable, and confident in real conversations.

A big thank-you to Al for leading such a memorable session, and to everyone who attended and participated so enthusiastically. The laughter, learning, and connections made the evening truly special!
