Sopranessence Sopranessence is "rebooting classical music" through innovative arrangements and programming of classical music. Not a fan of opera? You don’t have to be!

The ensemble is made up of female artists who collaborate to create these engaging performances. Sopranessence, formerly 7 Sopranos®, was founded by Cynthia Cole in 2007. Cynthia’s vision was to form an ensemble which would “reboot classical music” by breaking the modern pop culture stereotype that this kind of music is stuffy and aloof. nos who enthusiastically blend their voices in fun and unique arrangements of opera, musical theater and other American songbook classics. Sopranessence brings this music to life in new and joyous experiences for audiences of all ages and levels of musical sophistication. The performances are noteworthy for being fast-paced, fun and entertaining. Sopranessence envisions a world where teenagers, truck drivers and tax accountants alike, can relate to, enjoy and, yes, even have fun with some of the greatest musical compositions of all time. Performances will awaken the public to the fact that classical music is really popular music. It was meant for everyone – to mirror our foibles, dilemmas, and passions and most of all, to entertain! Sopranessence is an ensemble that sits in a category of its own. The group will take you on a musical rollercoaster from operatic arias, Broadway show tunes and beloved songs from American culture. After seeing one performance, you’ll be laughing, crying and held in suspense by the beautiful voices of these talented Divas.

📣 Calling all and in the DMV! Sopranessence, a collaborative ensemble of soloists with paid performances, is seeking versatile sopranos and mezzos who are open to singing musical theater & American Songbook standards in addition to classical music. Rehearsals typically take place on Sunday evenings in Annandale, VA.

Next audition date: Sunday, Sept 20, 2026 from 6-8 pm in Annandale, VA. An accompanist will be provided.
(Callbacks TBA in Annandale, VA)
