A new chapter begins at FEMA.

Cameron Hamilton has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as FEMA’s new Administrator. DRCA looks forward to working with Administrator Hamilton, FEMA leadership, and industry partners to strengthen disaster recovery, improve efficiency, and better support communities impacted by disasters.

Cam understands that effective emergency management depends on strong partnerships among federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial governments and the private sector. 🌟 Danielle Aymond received the 2026 DRCA Chairman's Award at our recent membership meeting. 🌟

A Lieutenant Colonel in the Louisiana Army National Guard and of counsel at Baker Donelson, Danielle brings a rare combination of legal expertise, leadership, and on-the-ground experience in disaster response and recovery efforts across the country.

DRCA Chairman Peter Gaynor recently spoke with Bloomberg News about recent leadership changes at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Markwayne Mullin’s appointment as Secretary of DHS, along with the departure of former Secretary Kristi Noem, raises new questions for the department as hurricane season approaches.

The Department of Homeland Security oversees the nation’s main disaster response agency, which has undergone turmoil under Noem.
