Crossing Water

Crossing Water Is a powerful metaphor in the realms of transition, transformation, and renewal as we search for safe crossing upon life’s uncharted waters

We are a connecting station, matching services and solutions to those who need them. We are about bettering the human condition in all its glorious diversity. It's all about ideas, direction, empowerment, and offering concrete solutions to vexing problems and challenges in a fast paced and complex environment. Sometimes problems are about the things you don't see every bit as much as those things

you can. Beneath the surface lies undercurrents, obstacles, and snags that can capsize you before you know it. At Crossing Water, we help individuals, groups, and communities navigate those uncharted waters and facilitate getting you to the other shore safely and securely. While it isn't always easy, it is most often a journey well worth taking.

- Directing disaster relief to vulnerable communities

- Building collaborative multi-sector partnerships

- Designing critical public health education
campaigns

- Mobilizing RRST - Rapid Response Service
Teams

- Crisis Response at ground, agency and policy
levels. Before making any difficult crossing on unknown waters, it helps to know the measure of your canoe as well as yourself. If your canoe is old and rotten you'll need to put ashore and make repairs. In the immortal words of Delbert McClintock, "Tear out bad wood, put in good wood." And life is as simple and as challenging as that. https://www.crowdrise.com/crossingwaterworkingforflint

If you don't yet hate and despise bottled water then you need to start.

Ten years ago we fought and fought hard so that all people would be given unfettered access to clean and drinkable water from their faucets, this, in little place called Flint, Michigan. It was a righteous struggle and yielded some very strong and positive results both through our efforts in concert with other groups on the ground through our direct in-home interventions (RRST program), and in concert with and maybe even more impactful on our citizens behalf through our involvement with the Federal courts who granted strong and wide ranging relief for every single Flint resident and family who needed it.

Water should not be a commodity to be bought and sold by and to the highest bidder but that's exactly where we find ourselves today. Please think about this as you play with AI and other such self-indulgent but ultimately luxurious things as those living in many places on this planet struggle for the very right to exist and to have access to clean and drinkable water for themselves, for their families for their children, and animals. Everyone deserves clean water. Every. Single. One of Us.

Well, this is a wild idea, income based utility bills. How shocking and long overdue this is. lov to hear your thoughts on this. Obviously given what happened in flint we are ALL IN on this idea. Water is life and clean water should be a right.

Michigan would become the first state with a permanent, income-based water billings system under proposed affordability package.

It's been a long and winding road. a heaping thank you goes out to the tireless and selfless workers at Crossing Water for the role they played in getting these pipes replaced.

“This day would not have come without the heroic efforts of the people in Flint who have fought valiantly for more than ten years to ensure the city fulfilled its duty to replace these dangerous lead pipes. Residents of Flint deserve – and have always deserved – access to clean, safe drinking water and property repairs, full stop. While we know that this is not a resolution for all the harms caused to the people of Flint from the water crisis, we celebrate this long-awaited win alongside you. We are committed to our partnership and the work ahead.” - Bonsitu Kitaba, ACLU-MI Interim Legal Director
