Amidst live-saving care following a car accident, an incubation tube nicked the vocal cords of musician Scott Michael Bennett. After losing his voice, cancelling tour dates and accepting the prospect of retirement, Bennett underwent a procedure and voice therapy at Michigan Medicine’s Vocal Health Center that brought his voice back. Now, Bennett is back on the road performing.

The Great Lakes Cover Crops Project, which originally began as a doctoral project at U-M, has now spread across the Great Lakes region and helps farmers improve their soil and prevent fertilizer from washing into waterways. Since its launch five years ago, over 225 farmers across six states have enrolled nearly 600 fields in the program.
