Madison County cooling centers open
The following cooling centers in Madison County will be open during particularly warm days throughout the summer:
Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St. Hours: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. Available: Seating, water fountain, reading materials and restrooms. The Christian Center, 625 Main St. Hours: Daily, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Salvation Army, 1615 Meridian St., Anderson. Hours: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Available: Seating, water and restrooms. Bob Rogers Community Center, 204 S. Harrison St., Alexandria. Ascension St. Vincent Mercy Hospital, 1331 South A St., Elwood. Hours: 24/7. Available: Seating, water, reading materials and restrooms. Elwood Public Library, 1600 Main St., Elwood. Hours: Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Available: Seating, water fountain, reading materials and restrooms. Frankton Community Library, 102 S. Church St., Frankton. Hours: Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Available: Seating, water fountain, reading materials and restrooms. Lapel Branch Library, 610 Main St., Lapel. Hours: Monday through Thursday, noon to 7 p.m.
Pendleton Community Public Library, 595 E. Water St. Hours: Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.; Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ralph E. Hazelbaker Library, 1013 W. Church St., Summitville.
