Thank you to members of the Alaska legislature for honoring us, and state Senator Forrest Dunbar, for presenting us with a legislative citation. We do not do any of this work to be recognized, but it is still an honor to know that there are people that are seeing the work and appreciating it. Yesterday was very emotional for us as we were reunited with many people we met last year right at the beginning of the emergency. But we are also hopeful to know that we are building a community.

Halong Evacuees, what clothing or household items are still needed? We are looking for feedback on how we can best help out families in Anchorage as we transition from winter into spring.

We were contacted by a teacher whose school has 40+ Typhoon Halong evacuee students with unmeet needs as well as some requests just to make life a bit more comfortable, considering the circumstances. Thanks to donations that we've received recently, we were able to provide school supplies, socks, personal hygiene products, and snacks. We appreciate all of your financial assistance so that we could make this happen. If you would like to contribute, please visit www.fireweedfoundation.org.

Cute pic of our youngest volunteer for the algorithms:)

We received another large box of beautiful handmade hats to distribute to evacuees from Typhoon Halong. These hats are handmade by an inmate at Palmer Correctional Center and honestly, they are the BEST hats. We just thought it would be nice to share a story about Alaskans making the best out of a bad situation and doing what they can to help. 🙂
