Halong Evacuees, what clothing or household items are still needed? We are looking for feedback on how we can best help out families in Anchorage as we transition from winter into spring.

We were contacted by a teacher whose school has 40+ Typhoon Halong evacuee students with unmeet needs as well as some requests just to make life a bit more comfortable, considering the circumstances. Thanks to donations that we've received recently, we were able to provide school supplies, socks, personal hygiene products, and snacks. We appreciate all of your financial assistance so that we could make this happen. If you would like to contribute, please visit www.fireweedfoundation.org.

We received another large box of beautiful handmade hats to distribute to evacuees from Typhoon Halong. These hats are handmade by an inmate at Palmer Correctional Center and honestly, they are the BEST hats. We just thought it would be nice to share a story about Alaskans making the best out of a bad situation and doing what they can to help. 🙂

You can always pitch in to help us at www.fireweedfoundation.org too!

Good news - Halong evacuees are moving into their own apartments! But of course, with a new apartment comes new needs. We are taking on the need of supplying kitchen starter kits and have been able to deliver 10 sets with your financial support. There are 30-40 more families that need these kitchen sets before they can settle into their new homes. Each set costs $120 and includes pots, pans, dishes, silverware, you name it. If you can spare it, make a donation today and we will make sure more families are kitchen ready - www.fireweedfoundation.org.

This week two Alaskan families lost their homes to fires. Luckily everyone is safe, and The Fireweed Foundation was able to assist them immediately with new clothing, shoes, boots, and outerwear for every member of the family. We were even able to throw in a few Christmas gifts to replace the ones lost in the fire for children in one family. Thanks to the people that support us financially, these families have a few less things to worry about this week as they start rebuilding their lives. You can donate to keep it going at fireweedfoundation.org
