Everyone votes every single day, at least informally!

One Greek word, cheirotoneō (χειροτονέω), often translated as “ordain,” literally carries the sense of “to stretch out the hand”—that is, to vote.

Every time we make a decision, we are, in a sense, voting. Every time we voice that decision or record it in writing, we are casting a vote.

Our social compact in the State of Alaska and in the United States of America is that we value each individual adult’s decision. Every so often, we offer each person the opportunity to make that decision clear at the ballot box.

Voting matters—both in private and in public.

I encourage you to vote your conscience today.
