Paws for Purple Hearts Alaska PPH is built upon the trusted and time-honored tradition of Warriors helping Warriors. The benefits extend well beyond the PPH Veteran trainers.

Non-Profit organization, certified through Assistance Dogs International to train & place Service dogs with Veterans experiencing PTSD, TBI, or Mobility challenges. Paws for Purple Hearts (PPH) is the first program of its kind to offer therapeutic intervention for Veterans and active-duty Service Members by teaching those with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) to train service dogs for their comrades with combat-related injuries. Under the guidance of PPH instructors, participants engage with specially-bred Golden and Labrador Retriever puppies. Together they undergo an intensive 18-to-24-month service dog training regimen—learning more than 90 commands–while the Veterans reintegrate into civilian life. The service dogs trained in the PPH program are partnered with Veterans or Service Members with combat-related disabilities at no cost, providing a new steadfast companion and a true partner. PPH dogs provide independence and security as they perform tasks like tugging open doors, switching on and off lights, and picking up dropped items.

🎭 A huge THANK YOU to the staff, cast, and supporters of the Anchorage Community Theater for supporting Paws for Purple Hearts Alaska!

🐕 Service Dog in Training Brando attended the 1776 Musical last Saturday and was the best behaved boy! He mingled with new friends and sat appropriately in the theater… we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

💜 All donations from last weekend were giving to Paws for Purple Hearts Alaska, and go a long way to helping cover the costs of our dogs. We appreciate the help and support from our community members, and thank you again ACT for this amazing collaboration!

We love all our dogs, but check out this guy! Meet Jon, the newest addition to our Alaska PPH family!

He's the first puppy in our new program, so he won't be at our facility full-time like the rest of the Service Dogs in Training, but instead will spend more time at home with his Puppy Parents (we don't want you to be shocked when you stop by and don't see him here!).

We'll be sure to post public events where he'll be in attendance, so you can stop by and say hello!

If you'd like to support Jon's journey check out his Amazon wishlist.

We appreciate all the support from our friends and community members--thank you for supporting who we are, and what we do for our Veterans.

QR code to the Wishlist is pictured, but a direct link can be found on both Facebook and Instagram on our Profile under link/linktree.

💜 A huge thank you to Youth Philanthropists Alaska for this check presentation, after gifting us $4,330.00 in the spring! This is a great group of kids who strive to make a huge difference in our community! Check them out—and if you can, donate to their upcoming meeting in a few weeks!

🐾 Service Dog in training Brando was able to say hello to a Hilcorp employee too, after being sponsored and named by them last year. He was the best boy, posing for the camera!

✴ Today is National Black Dog Day!

✴ We're celebrating Nike, Zucker, and Unity today--our three amazing black Service Dogs in Training!

✴ FUN FACT! Zucker is an English lab, where Nike and Unity are black lab/golden retriever crosses!

✴ They all have very different personalities, and we love them all for what makes them unique!
