Paws for Purple Hearts Alaska PPH is built upon the trusted and time-honored tradition of Warriors helping Warriors. The benefits extend well beyond the PPH Veteran trainers.

Non-Profit organization, certified through Assistance Dogs International to train & place Service dogs with Veterans experiencing PTSD, TBI, or Mobility challenges. Paws for Purple Hearts (PPH) is the first program of its kind to offer therapeutic intervention for Veterans and active-duty Service Members by teaching those with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), an

d Military Sexual Trauma (MST) to train service dogs for their comrades with combat-related injuries. Under the guidance of PPH instructors, participants engage with specially-bred Golden and Labrador Retriever puppies. Together they undergo an intensive 18-to-24-month service dog training regimen—learning more than 90 commands–while the Veterans reintegrate into civilian life. The service dogs trained in the PPH program are partnered with Veterans or Service Members with combat-related disabilities at no cost, providing a new steadfast companion and a true partner. PPH dogs provide independence and security as they perform tasks like tugging open doors, switching on and off lights, and picking up dropped items.

Service Dog-in-training Brando would like to thank all our Veterans in the Military Aviation community! Living in Alaska, we have an advantage where we get to meet so many pilots and aviation fans!

This picture is from meeting some of the local guys and gals in the Alaska Air National Guard at JBER. Brando was excited to meet members of the 210th, 211th, and 212th Rescue Squadrons and pose for pictures in the HH60 Pave Hawk.

We were Pawsitively Pleased to visit Janco Commercial Cleaners with Xena and Brando! They are sponsoring our upcoming Auction beginning September 4 and wrapping up with an Open House on Patriot’s Day, September 11 from 4pm-8pm (You are invited, so save the date!).

Providing service dogs to our Veterans with PTSD, TBI, and Mobility Challenges is dependent on the support of our friends and businesses. We, at Paws for Purple Hearts, thank the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country. This Purple Heart is presented to those who were wounded or killed in battle. 🐾 It’s Wishlist Wednesday! 🐾

If you want to show Xena some love, scan the QR code or click on the Amazon link on our profile and check out our Wishlist. Our dogs love the Woof Brand Chews as well as Antler chews (available online and local too!) The dogs go through chew toys quickly, so we’re always needing a restock!

We thank everyone who has donated to our facility—you’re the number one reason why we’re able to do what we do best. 💜
