We have been saying for years that oil wont do as our primary (nearly solitary) source of revenue in the state and now that oil prices have plummeted Alaska is feeling the pain. OPINION: Alaska can't keep skating along with fiscal insecurity but don't count on our lawmakers to lead us off the ice.

After a year of uncertainty AMBIT is getting ready to reemerge into the Alaskan nonprofit business and education services sector. What a wonderful program featured here from North Carolina. Yet another reason that supports our motivation to work with and assist Alaskan Artists!

The manufacturing base in many rural towns of the U.S. has dwindled, but in North Carolina, combined public and private support has spurred an innovative approach: combining the creative talents of seasoned artists with the skills of local workers.

This is awesome! AMBIT is very optimistic about the future role of the co-op markets in Alaska. Since the beginning of our program AMBIT has been promoting and proposing locally operated co-ops across the state involving our alaskan farmers, fisheries, and artists.

We are very glad that there are like-minded people out there making it work!

The Fairbanks Co-Op Market has finally opened its doors after 6 years of potlucks, meticulous planning and some skepticism from the community. And so far, business is looking good.

Its amazing sometimes the things people do out of pure adrenaline. While not advisable, this is a pretty impressive story.

Having visited many rural communities to provide 'Financial Literacy' and 'eCommerce' training to both youth and adults it pains us to say that much of this article rings true. For each community in our wonderful state at least one of these issues hits home, even Anchorage.
For these reasons and more AMBIT is dedicated to helping our local economy grow to stimulate new industries and create more jobs. Promoting alternative methods of achieving higher education, and creating industry specific job training and certification courses all help youth and adults to engage the available markets and build new industries.

The government's one-size-fits-all requirements may be too stifling for kids who spend much of their time hunting whales and gathering berries.

Alaska is unique in its relatively late development of natural resources in relation to the contiguous 48 states. This provides a unique opportunity for Alaskan land owners to learn from and avoid the shortcomings of land stewardship in the past.
