Indigenous communities have long been stewards of Turtle Island, this land, culture, and sacred knowledge, carrying forward deep traditions of care, resilience, and inter-connectivity.
Today, we honor not only the strength and wisdom of Indigenous peoples, but also the painful history of erasure and displacement that must be acknowledged in our path toward healing and repair.
Indigenous Rights is a pillar theme of our Building a Better World Community Wave Mural , with the Powwow River flowing directly beneath it. Building a better world means listening deeply, amplifying Indigenous voices, and standing in respect and solidarity.
We need to open our eyes and hearts and do the work.
Thank you Imagine Studios Performing Arts for creating space for indigenous voices and culture to shine on the Newburyport waterfront.
