Frank Coady Wake - Walk Through Tribute

A towing industry Walk Through Tribute for Frank will be held Thursday, Oct. 23rd, at 6 pm at St. Michael's Church, 196 Main St, North Andover, MA.

A "walk-through" at a funeral is a formal tribute where members file past the casket to pay their final respects and is a silent sign of solidarity and respect for Frank and his family.

• Arrive by 5:30 for setup; we’ll then head to the church.
• Please carpool and avoid bringing tow trucks, as parking is limited.
• Parking is at North Andover Town Hall, 120 Main St., where we'll gather before walking to the church.

Our industry lost a legend. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Coady family, friends and colleagues.

Tonight our Commander, Frank Coady, lost a hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s.

Frank changed lives, all the while doing what he loved. They say “the meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away”. Frank will continue to give in more ways than we can measure.

An STA Member brought to our attention a notable lack of understanding among certain driver’s education instructors, students, and their parents concerning the differences between the “Move Over” law and the “Pull Over” law. It has become evident that many individuals incorrectly assume these terms refer to the same statute, specifically the “Pull Over” law.

To address this issue, STA reached out to the New England Education Traffic Safety Association (NETSEA) for assistance in disseminating accurate information regarding the distinctions between these two laws. As a result, STA was invited to participate in the NETSEA Annual Conference held on September 29-30, 2025, in Leominster, MA.

At the event, Executive Director Kim Lowell and Past President Bill Johnson represented STA by staffing an informational booth. They engaged attendees on the risks faced by towing operators and clarified the confusion surrounding the two statutes. Informational handouts were distributed to support this educational outreach.

To further STA’s initiative:
• Engage in discussions with your family, colleagues, and their families about the differences between the two laws, as awareness of the newer “Move Over” law may be limited.
• Share this information and the accompanying handouts with local driver education programs.

Kudos – Northampton, MA, police recently honored tow op Dakota Morgan of Ernie's Towing for helping police to subdue a violent suspect and placing him in handcuffs on Feb 27, 2023. "We’re proud to have Dakota on our team as someone who goes above and beyond his average daily duties!" Way to go!
