To the editor:
The Richard Gale Memorial Tree Committee would like to express their gratitude to the Institution for Savings for their sponsorship of our Arbor Day celebration.

The Tree Committee is a subcommittee of the Amesbury Improvement Association with a mission to fundraise and plant trees in Amesbury. We give free trees to residents and plant larger trees around the city to be enjoyed by all.

Richard Gale was a longtime member of the AIA and planted thousands of trees over more than 20 years. We strive to continue his hard work.

Our committee would like to express our gratitude to all who helped us with this year’s Arbor Day. The Institution for Savings, Andyman’s Dessert & Baking, the Amesbury Department of Public Works, including Joe Buckley, Lisa DeMeo, and the DPW workers, Mayor Kassandra Gove for her proclamation and help with planting, and all the RGMTC members for a lot of hard work. And finally, our appreciation to the all the Amesbury families who adopted a tree for their yards and pledged to water and care for them.

The tree committee is always looking for Amesbury residents who would like to adopt a free tree. We strive to plant straight native trees. It is not too early to sign up for a tree for next year. You can sign up and request a variety by emailing: [email protected]
