πŸŽ† Only 1 more week until the flag of the 2nd South Carolina Regiment goes on display for the first time in more than 10 years! Save the date for Sat., June 27th, and the opening of the new exhibition, "American Battleground: South Carolina's Revolution!"

Though the embroidery is now faded, the center emblem of the flag includes the Latin phrase, "Vita Potior Libertas," which means "Liberty Rather Than Life." πŸ‘€

Carried by the 2nd South Carolina Regiment during the Revolutionary War, this historically important flag was gifted to the regiment after the Battle of Sullivan's Island in 1776.

June 17th, 1775,
4:00am, HMS Lively sees the earthworks on Breed's Hill and started firing.
9:00am, the British cannons on Copp's Hill stated firing.
General Gage prepares to land 2200 men at Moulton's Point by boat with Major General William Howe in command to clear the Patriot force off the peninsula.
General Ward sends Massachusetts regiments to occupy Charlestown to support Colonel Prescott's men on Breed's Hill.
By 1:00pm, a double column of British boats can be seen heading to Moulton's Point.
