Here at The High Amana General Store we are often asked, "When's your busy season?"
We smile and say, "Mid-March through December."
As 1 of 5 Amana Heritage Museum sites, we are located in the smaller, outer village of High Amana - just 5 miles west of the main village of Amana on the 220th Trail loop. Things are slower and more relaxed here. We specialize in taking you back to a slower time... 1858 to be exact!
So when you visit us, enjoy a more leisured pace.

There are still tickets available for this coming Friday, August 14th for one of our last Communal Meals of the summer! This Friday is our most popular menu, our boiling beef with creamy Amana spinach and cooked horseradish. The Amana Meat Shop & Smokehouse is our cultural partner for Communal Meals and does all of our cooking and baking using traditional recipes, like this one from the cookbook "Seasons of Plenty," by Emilie Hoppe.

Tickets are $35 per person and are available online or by calling our office during the day at 319-622-3567. Communal Meals take place at the Communal Kitchen Museum in Middle Amana, inside the last remaining in-tact Communal Kitchen in the Amana Colonies. Doors open for the meal at 5pm and we begin dinner at 5:30pm.
