📣 Iowa needs new farmers to replace the previous generation – especially farmers who want to grow the food that we eat!

Lawrencia is one farmer who answered that call. She had just finished her second month of our two-year New Century Farm Fellowship program and was hard at work planting when USDA funding for this program was abruptly eliminated by the current administration.

Now is our time to turn up and turn out for new farmers, because our future is tied to theirs. Help us raise $3000 for Great Give Day so we can supply our new farmers with the tools and equipment they need to grow and harvest through the summer.

BONUS: Donate for GREAT GIVE DAY (through May 6) to win one of TEN canvas tote bags (LOCAL FARMS FEED IOWA) so you can continue to show your love at local farmers’ markets this summer!

Spring is a busy time of year on farms everywhere. For specialty crop farmers, access to the right equipment at the right time can make all the difference in efficiency and profitability.

Farmers Toolshed, an equipment and tool sharing program, supported by Iowa Valley RC&D, is increasing access to specialized or rarely used equipment at fair rental rates. This model allows farmers to benefit from high-quality tools without carrying the full cost of purchase, maintenance, insurance, and long-term upkeep.

Planting and seeding equipment available in the toolshed include no till transplanter, 3 point broadcast seeder, grain drill, and 3 row Jang seeder.

Book a rental online, anytime. Pick up and drop off at the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm.
