We had a great program today from Darlin with MyCHN speaking on the health care that they offer and the locations. Not only do they have health care but they also have their own pharmacy. So if you need a physician give them a try: www.mychn.org

Jeff Barry our State Rep. House District 29
was our speaker today bringing us updated information about High school Technical training for the students, that who aren't going to college can get a job and make a livable income. Barry also talked about three jobs that are needed in every community. He also brought out things on AI that needs to be address along with the Data Centers.

❤️ The Red Cross does a lot more than respond to hurricanes and major disasters.

This week, Alvin Rotary Club welcomed Jessica Debalski, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Coastal Plains Texas Chapter, and one of the things she shared really stuck with us.

When most of us think of the Red Cross, we picture hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and other disasters that make national headlines. But some of their busiest work happens quietly, one family at a time.

If a family loses their home to a fire, even a single-family house fire affecting just one household, the Red Cross can be called to respond. Volunteers are available around the clock to help people with immediate needs and begin figuring out what comes next. In fact, home fires make up the vast majority of the disasters the Red Cross responds to nationwide.

And that’s just part of what they do. The Red Cross also helps install free smoke alarms and develop home fire escape plans, provides emergency communication and support for military families, and offers lifesaving training such as CPR, First Aid, water safety and lifeguarding.

It was a great reminder that some of the most important community work never makes the evening news. It may simply be a volunteer showing up at 2:00 in the morning when a neighbor has just lost everything.
