Come out and join us for "Galveston Chapter Night" at our Open Installation of Officers on Saturday November 20, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
At our Open Installation of Officers on Saturday November 20, 2021 at 6:00 p.m., we will be dedicating the Charles Erick Ekelund Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Installing Officer will be Texas DeMolay State Master Councilor, Chipper Coleman. The Ekelund Family will also be in attendance for the dedication. Charlie Ekelund was a Past Master Councilor of Galveston Chapter. He was a graduate of Ball High School and Sam Houston State University. After graduation, he followed his family's wonderful tradition of public service in law enforcement, when he joined the Galveston County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy Officer. He was also a master mason, and the sitting Senior Deacon of Tucker Lodge No. 297 A.F. & A.M. at the time of his passing in February 1982. He was 25 years old. Charlie was a friend, a great example, mentor, and a true Brother of the first order. He did many awesome performances of Jacques DeMolay in the DeMolay Degree. Everything I know about the part of Jacques DeMolay, I learned from Charlie. This fund will be for active members of John Wayne Chapter No. 3667. The recipients of this scholarship will have to meet stringent standards in their schoolwork, as well as their DeMolay work. Standards that Charlie followed naturally. The scholarship will help with college and trade school expenses. If you are interested in donating to this very worthy cause, please contact Dad Mark Peebler at [email protected] or visit our website at jwdemolay.org and click on the PayPal button. We will also be awarding 40 and 50 year certificates to members of Galveston Chapter who were close to Charlie. They include:
Albert H Crawford Jr
Michael Delgado
Jack Buxton
Charlie Cupples
Gus Marinos
Robert B. Peebler II
Louis Herrin
Steve Boothe
Rusty Legg
Barry Newmark
Stanley Marinos
Fraternally,
