We are so excited for a new partnerships, helping us to reach further into the City of Pittsburgh and aid communities we haven’t before! Tonight, we welcome volunteers into our Allegheny Storehouse to pack what’s left of our inventory to distribute to Pittsburgh neighborhoods! ❤️

Did you catch that? “What’s left of our inventory”.

After this, our storehouse will be empty, right as kids are home from school, gas prices are rising, and families need food more than ever before. Want to help impact your own community? Join The Collective and make an immediate difference in the fight against food insecurity in Pittsburgh! 🍞

Swipe for a shock ➡️

Heading into summer and in serious need of a re-stock!

We have had a few very successful distributions, feeding hundreds helping to bridge a gap in Pittsburgh’s fight with food insecurity. Our storehouse is looking a little wiped out, and we know that there is still a heavy need for fresh, healthy food for thousands of our Pittsburgh neighbors.

Did you know that $40 a month can provide several meals for a family in need? By joining The Collective, you can make an immediate difference in the lives of so many in your own community! ❤️

“So the inevitable food rush that I had a gut feeling was coming has finally arrived.”

That’s the voice message we just received from our director, Mike. The stock we had? That’s now pretty much gone. 😳 we are able to handle the final distributions, but we need more food. And as we head into the time of year that kids aren’t getting 1-2 free meals at school every day, Summer is very busy.

Quick donations of $30 make a huge impact and allow us to help feed a family for a week. Monthly donations can collectively fill a truck with a bulk food shipment for hundreds of families. Whether you can donate once or 12 times per year, know that it’s both appreciated and put to good use filling the bellies of Pittsburgh families! 🍞

Delfina is wise beyond her years.

She spent most of her childhood years in the jungle region of Peru, in a small farming community. Her mother passed away when she was very young, and her older brother became her caretaker. But because she was so young, at the age of eleven, Delfina entered an orphanage where she lived until she finished high school.

After graduating she then set out on her own, working odd jobs trying to find her way in life without a set direction, which is a difficult task for many young adults.
After a few years she came in contact with Samuel and Melissa, who, after hearing her situation, were compelled to help her in some way. And thus, in July 2020, Mission: EDU Peru was officially launched. Delfina became one of the first students to join the program.

Did you know that there are kitchens in Peru, hidden up in the hills tucked into small communities of homes, and they feed hundreds of people every single day? 🇵🇪

Ok, maybe you knew that, but how about the fact that many of them don’t have a roof? Or a functioning workspace? How about the ones without running water, or the women that cook over open fires in an enclosed space? 👀 We believe these communities deserve better!!

Our goal this year to is complete multiple Olla Común kitchens and give these volunteer cooks and communities a safe, clean space to work, eat and gather! If you aren’t following along yet, now is the perfect time to start. Check out the links in our bio, send us a message or hit that follow button to keep up with all the work The Mission Co accomplishes this year!! ❤️

This is the dryer our students in Lima, Peru are currently using. 🫣

Not only is it rough to look at, but it’s quickly becoming more of a catch-all than anything else…and we need to get them a new one!

We estimate the cost of this dryer to land around $1,500, and are asking for your help to make it happen! You can click the link below to help contribute toward helping keep The Mission Co student house equipped for our hard working students!! ❤️

Emmanuel is hard-working and independent.

He grew up on the northern coast of Peru and was
raised by a single mother. At sixteen he moved to Lima to try and create a better life for himself—a common trend for most Peruvian young adults. He attended university on a one-year technical scholarship because of his good high school grades, but after the first year he had no way to pay for the rest of his schooling and was forced to put his plans on hold.

In June 2021 he joined Construyendo Bases, jumping in feet first, and quickly got to work making a space for himself and helping around the home. He is currently halfway through his classes to complete his degree in Business Management with a focus in Human Resources.

He has started volunteering by teaching freshman orientation classes, and through a program started by one of his professors that works with the Peruvian government he is helping women start their own small businesses to be able to provide for their families. Upon graduating he wants to affect positive change in the workplace environment in Peru.
